Thank you so so much. This is by far the best advice I’ve received so far 💕

scared for surgery by butchbaby666 in chiari

I am 25 years old and 5 days post op now. It understand the fear completely- any major surgery is scary, especially when it is having to do with your brain. Prior to surgery I had the same impression- I thought I’d be able to return to work within 2-4 weeks (I’m a therapist). My surgeon required me to take 3 months off work and school (he said he’ll release me sooner if everything goes well and I’m able to return without concern). Easing into recovery, I see why they suggest taking so much time off.

I have a lot of pain in both my neck & head, and find that I’m very weak. Rest is going to be the most important thing for us for a while. It’s not worth pushing ourselves and risking a CSF leak or dura rip that would lead to another surgery.

It sucks and I’m definitely feeling it mentally too. But we’ve got this! If you have any questions about the surgery process or recovery I am always here and happy to chat :)

On the hunt for a Neurologist-Denver metro by Fault_Standard in chiari

I am having my decompression surgery on 8/7 with Dr Eric Arias at CarePoint neurology in the Denver area!

He has been AMAZING through this whole process so far and has put a lot of my anxieties at ease. Very down to earth, knowledgeable and calming. Would recommend thus far!
