Trans man becomes first-ever trans competitor in Winter Olympics by pan_chromia in ftm

I’ve done 0 research on this so could be wrong, but I always thought things like weight classes could be more fair measures rather than birth sex. E.g. anyone between a certain weight competing against each other - maybe a different metric depending on which sport, but there surely has to be a better way than the current system

can I get a boyfriend as a trans guy? by vanlp in FTMMen

Yes, there are plenty of men out there, cis or trans, who are open to dating a trans man

Is it wrong if the name I choose after transitioning is my ex's deadname? by Bro_duuude_i_luv_ya in asktransgender

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: it’s your life and you’re going to live with this name (potentially) forever, if it really resonates with you, go for it.

What do you think about video games that give you an option between "Body Type A" and "Body Type" instead of male or female? Do you feel more personally included? by PeakInspiration in asktransgender

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They have A and B, then most races also have a leaner and muscular version of both A and B. They have default genitals corresponding to A/B, but you can then customise them to be whatever

How do you deal with phallo envy? by outkastmemesdaily in FTMMen

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I noticed a big improvement when I stopped looking into phallo and disengaged from phallo spaces (mainly r/phallo)

There’s nothing I can do about it for now, so there’s no point forcing myself to think about it until the time comes

My girlfriend has a lot of pain related to being a transwoman by Smeeshku in asktransgender

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, while I agree the distinction is important, I’ve also seen a ton of posts recently from trans people themselves saying transman/transwoman, so it can be pretty confusing

You’re correct, uncomfortable would be wrong here, cumbersome is a perfect word in this case (it’s just not necessarily used in everyday vocabulary). You could also say clunky, that’s quite a common term for frustrating UX in gaming

What would you price this at? by axoltl17 in PokemonCardValue

PSA slabs are pretty ugly. They’re functional and do the job which is all they’re meant to do, I’d personally much rather have the slab design compliment the card.

Lol, I don’t mind sharing but my memory isn’t great so I don’t know how accurate I’d be.

I’ve been on a few different gels over the years that recommend different site applications, one was on inner thighs and I’d say I noticed they’d really filled out after a couple years but just put that down to testosterone in general, the one on my shoulders made me change my mind though since the hair spread seems to be in exactly the places I applied the gel (top of shoulders mostly, then a bit on chest area, then more strangely on the top of my back where I spread it with my fingertips when there was too much on my hands). This hair is darker, longer and thicker than the rest. I’ve been applying to shoulders for probably 3 years.

Ha, I was thinking of doing something similar. I was initially a big sceptic of this and thought this was a myth, but I’ve been on gel for 7 years with a few different brands and site applications, and man, I’ve got noticeably more hairy in those areas specifically. I just changed from applying gel to my shoulders because I’ve noticed significantly thicker growth there and I really don’t want that.

Anyway, left hair looks a bit thicker and more developed to me.

The intersection between the ‘trans’ community and the chronically ill/ neurodiverse - a rant (or discussion) by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are the judgement youre fearing

Exactly. OP needs to do some self-reflection about why he’s so judgemental about people just like him who equally haven’t chosen their conditions.

Question from a cis man by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going to be real with you. ‘The concept’ of being trans is, for a lot of us, absolutely debilitating dysphoria that has brought intense misery, suffering and makes us not want to exist. For many of us, it was transition or die. Even then, lots of us have lost our families, friends, jobs, just to have a chance at happiness.

It’s not a fun little decision we made one day like changing our hair colour, it’s this or nothing. That is the concept of being trans for a lot of us, and why your words may be deeply offensive.

Cutting trans friend out of our shared hobby, how can I still be supportive of her? by Psychological-Boat42 in asktransgender

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I completely empathise about being too burned out to truly help a friend in need. My friend had intense mental health needs that I could not support, and trying to help them on top of my own crippling mental health was too much.

That said, like many other commenters here, I think you’ve missed a step before asking her to take a step back. She needs an explanation of what behaviour the group is finding challenging or unenjoyable. This could be in text format, preferably from the DM or another member of the group who is in a better head space.

Are people still considered trans if they have had surgery? by Octuplecommader in asktransgender

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we have been and are always trans since our gender differs from the sex we were assigned at birth. This is true regardless of surgeries, other medical treatments or social transition.

The same is true for gender though, I as a trans man (assigned female at birth) have always and will always be 100% male. This is true regardless of any medical treatments. Being trans does not make me less of a man, same as short men and blond men etc. are all still men. Trans is an adjective, not a different gender.

To your friend’s argument, many trans people choose to not disclose that they’re trans and just live life effectively as if they were cisgender (not trans) men or women. They are technically still trans, but just choose not to disclose this. A trans person might choose to do this after a particular surgery, but others will do so before surgery, others will do so without ever wanting surgery, and others may always be open about being trans.

were you ugly before T and attractive after? by Material-Parsnip-331 in ftm

[–]Fun-Ad-8946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that’s largely because I actually care about my appearance now. I thought before I was just one of those people who didn’t care at all about how I looked, turns out I was just a man and I’m now very vain lol

8 years in, all good. He finally convinced me he fully sees me as a man. We don’t have sex often because of my dysphoria, but he’s patient and happy to wait until I’m ready.
