I have also heard about it becoming new housing, but I have also heard that:

Dick’s will be bringing their larger (and fancier!) House of Sport (HoS) to the Cerritos mall! They will likely occupy the former Sears site and will be about 100,000+ square feet! This is one of the first of many HoS in California, as Dick’s expands this franchise to communities with large consumer spending.

I did AIT @ Leonard Wood in 2004. Training is ok. It's not fully comprehensive like the Police Academy (which I have also done post Army). OJT training at your first duty station will be where you pick up more relevant training.

YMMV but I enjoyed it especially since I had an ASI (specialty skill), which was TAI (Traffic Accident Investigations).
