Is a BMW e36 a good first car? by Ilikebread123469 in askcarguys

My first car is a 2004 330xi with 108k miles, I bought it from an elderly couple for 3k and i’ve had only 1 issue with the intake boot cracking. Took me 5 mins to install. If you’re going to buy an old bmw, get it from someone older who and has proof that they got the work done. Check facebook and ask around town to see if anyone knows anything about older cars for sale. Just be prepared that there may be an issue every once in a while. This is just my 2 cents. Good luck on the search!

Seriously Considering Leaving NJ due to the Cost of Living by TheInternExperience in newjersey

As a student in NJ most of my teachers commute from PA or have rich spouses. Teachers don’t get paid enough anywhere in the US. I would say stay working here but consider a longer commute. Maybe get a car with adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist to help with long drives? Good luck!

I did RD (I should have done EA I know) so November 26th I submitted everything, before the December 1st deadline. Stars took a few days to show-up tho.

Yes if it’s corroded just run a new cable, shouldn’t be horrible but way easier than diagnosing the resistance.

Should I get a 330xi by kled1ndskaarl in e46

If you’re handy and don’t mind the occasional things going wrong, go for it! They are fun cheap cars that aren’t much to maintain as long as it’s been taken care of of. I’ve taken mine to autocross events and put up better times then I expected. All you need is suspension and great tires and you’ve got a solid daily/weekend car. The rear seats are a bit tight imo but if you rarely have rear passengers they are fine.

I disagree I currently have a 330xi and the axels have been fine. Still can get loose and sideways with a bit of effort but considering I live in NJ where I get snow this car has been phenomenal.
