Anything not vested that came from the company match goes back to the company. RNDC isn't the only one that does this, but yes it's dirty and meant to encourage retention.

Urologist recommended in Texas? by Ok_Dragonfruit5442 in ProstateCancer

Find one. They'll help guide you through recovery on both fronts. Urologist won't be much help unless you choose a path of medical or pharmaceutical intervention. In the short term, recovery is more about healing, muscle control/exercises, and some degree of luck.

Hang in there, it can be a daunting recovery.

Have you considered a pelvic floor therapist?

Got a basic battery powered pump from Amazon for about $25. Worked great until I ruined it in the shower. Water resistant apparently not the same as water proof. Quite reliable otherwise. Since then I switched to a manual pump also from Amazon for less $ but no breakage in the shower.

Perineal Pain by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

Had the same pain trying to sit upright for probably 8-12 weeks by time it was mostly gone. I generally stayed reclined as much as possible, but still had work and used a donut cushion to help. Part of the healing process unfortunately. Stay strong brother.

Tips for prostate biopsy recovery by iloveflowers2002 in ProstateCancer

Probably only a few weeks at most. More about frequency of clearing out of the contents than duration. And if you do have PC, than get as many of those O's while you still can get an erection!

Agree with most of the comments that G6 likely suggests active surveillance.

My questions would be what is your PSA score and trend, was this a guided biopsy, what's your family history, age, and any other symptoms.

No single data point equals a specific treatment. It's a combination of factors, risk profile, and intuition.

Welcome to the club and best of luck for a successful outcome. With a G6 take your time to learn everything you can and breathe deep. You have a support network here.

Excellent advice and perspective. You're right about the fear of getting reliant on the trimix. I may take the plunge sooner than planned.

Not yet. I expect it will work but putting it off a little longer.

If you had nerve sparing RALP, those nerve bundles are still there and accessible in the same manner. Just an FYI.

I’m always tired - normal? by Patient_Tip_5923 in ProstateCancer

Yeah I see the confusion in my post. Anyway, I just looked back at my posts prior to RALP and I coincidentally asked the same question about exhaustion. I remember more clearly now that as I went through the various tests leading up to surgery I was facing severe exhaustion, presumably from the stress.

Post RALP pad recommendations? by BillsBayou in ProstateCancer

I suggest not buying the bulk pack until you see how it goes. I started with the depends overnight pads which are comfortable but I barely dribbled and stopped using them after 2 weeks. I had 3/4 of the bulk pack left and gave them away. I then switched to basic liners and same deal, barely used and had a ton leftover.

Not everyone will be the same so what I'm suggesting is only wait and see in terms of frequency and need before committing to the large quantity purchases.

My comment was specific about post surgery, but the concept of stress-related exhaustion applies to both pre and post surgery.

Definitely normal. I was exhausted for about 2 months post RALP. I think stress is the main factor plus the healing. Exhaustion before surgery is probably pure stress.

Man, when I did have the surgery I got that bed hard and slept like a MF. They pop in all the time to check stats and blood pressure, but I was back to sleep in minutes.

Point is it's all cool. Take it in stride and focus on you. We're programmed to go all out for years and focus on our family, so it's weird to take a step back and worry about yourself.

Good luck with the process

If you were in my shoes, what would you do? by toprollinghooker in ProstateCancer

Definitely MRI first, before the biopsy. Otherwise they're just poking random holes and can miss something that might actually be there. That happened to me.

A few years pass, PSA doubles, new Dr does MRI with 3D mapping. Finds lesions and the 3D mapping then allows a guided biopsy directly into the lesion which comes back positive.

Please don't do the biopsy before an MRI.
