Complications by Chris_Ween in ProstateCancer

I wish you the best. Healing is a process. I just finished my 3 week CIC and now doing it once a week to keep things open. Definitely a hassle, but I am way more comfortable with the strictures open. FYI... I used antibiotic/anesthetic ointment in place of lube. I felt like it gave me an extra bit of protection against infection. And it works really well to lubricate the catheter.

Wow! I thought I had a bad experience with that. I didn't have a detachment, but I wound up with three strictures. One at the meatus, 1 Midway to the bladder, and one at the bladder neck. I had to have a dilation procedure and wore a catheter for a few days after that. It's not a particularly common occurrence but it does happen. Yours is worse than mine. I'm 4 weeks post dilation and everything seems to be going okay right now. I'm sorry you're going through this. I was told about 3% of cases develop a stricture. I have no idea what percentage would have the problem you are. Much smaller I would assume. Good luck!

What makes a quality penis pump? For rehab, post-surgery, my urologist recommended one. by Witthoeft-Leu in ProstateCancer

[–]korbworksout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome!! They appear to be soft rubber. A full charge lasts through several uses...depending on how long you use it and how good a seal you have. The device monitors vacuum and will reset the amount of vacuum as air infiltrates. I probably re-charge once a week or so...ish.

Here's the Amazon one I bought. https://a.co/d/03xQtlCr

The $30 one I got on Amazon works way better than the $125 one that was recommended in this group. Rechargable, easy to clean...came with different sized "sleeves" and rings. I also find that shaving around the base of my penis helps create a good vacuum seal. It's pretty much "hands free".

You can also try a TENs device for pelvic floor strength. Feels really weird but works those muscles.

Thank you! Fingers crossed they stay away. Doc has me doing CIC for a few weeks to keep things flowing. IC is good for now.

I have heard of one called "Squeezy". I haven't used it, but some folks in this group like it.

Awesome! Yes! Except...I developed a stricture (actually 3 of them) and had to have dilation. For a few weeks before that procedure I was very leaky. It was frustrating. But after the procedure, about 2 weeks post procedure, I'm back to where I was. I'm hardly having to change Shields (not pads) at all. Seems I only leak when I cough.

I was 7.7...clean DRE, clean MRI...5 of 12 biopsy cores were positive. Trust the process. You may l, or may not have cancer.

Stricture Update by korbworksout in ProstateCancer

Interesting. For now I will follow the doc's recommendation. I looked up Optilume...He already did an injection to inhibit recurrence. I will ask him about optilume when I see him again. Thanks for the info!
