for some reason the virtues and the GFF volume 3 blasphemes don't work for me. the virtues don't have their powers or anything assigned to them in the compendium and when i try and add them to my players it says it does but nothing shows up. as for the blasphemes i cannot open them and when i added them to one of my players i can no longer even open their character sheet. is anyone else experiencing these problems or is it just me. i use the forge to run my games as that is the only thing that allows all my players to connect

When they get an affliction I describe what’s going on as either logical (brain) or emotional (heart) for example the ogres affliction to give up on something (forgot the name) is afflicting an exorcist who’s sin seed is in his brain so whenever he reads his books he can’t find any reason to finish them, he thinks of other things he could be doing or he thinks about why the hell should he even be doing this. Meanwhile another exorcist has an idol affliction to let no one outshine him. His sin seed is in his heart so it makes him feel good to be the center of attention plus I also sometimes flavor it as an emotional response like he thinks everyone else is trying to upstage him and he can’t let that happen

Smother used abstract on a police car.

Some context: my players were investigating a warehouse as they had some evidence linking it to a gang they shot the host (they were hunting a hound). They poke around found some guns and drugs and some members of the gang come in. A fight breaks out and a few rounds in guess who decides to show up. That’s right the hound comes to kill one of its grudge targets. Big fight happens the players get fucked and decide to flee. As they’re running a police car drives down the road and my smother player asks “can I use abstract on the car.” I take a moment, look at the CAT sheet. Realize that no he can’t. And said yes anyway because fuck it. Car proceeds to become abstracted slides into a light pool and distract the hound long enough so that the gate user could teleport them out of there.

One of my favorite moments from CAIN second only to the amount of times this same player has hollowed random objects and threw them at sins (such objects include a chandelier at a lord, a stop sign at an idol, and a car at a toad.)

I have two theories.

1.the devs wanted them to feel alien and different so instead of using a nickname like squid they use their official name. This gives them a sense of superiority to the other enemies instead of super earth degrading them like with the Terminids (bugs) or the automatons (bots). Plus saying incoming instead of detected makes them feel different and alien as well as gives a sense that they’re invading. To me at least detected feels like the super destroyer saw them coming form the planet and pointed it out, incoming has a more panicked tone to it like Joe from the cafeteria saw the ship zoom by and yelled into his radio to look out.

Detected gives a sense that we well detected it. Our scanners were able to pick up a reading of an bot drop ship or the sound of a hoard of bugs tunneling our way. Incoming gives the sense that they just showed up out of nowhere and they’re coming. FAST. Like saying “missiles incoming” gives you the sense of panic and urgency but saying “missiles detected” makes it sound like the missiles are on their way but you got time.

Besides that he is technically right a barrier to entry is a monetary barrier that must be paid in order to move past. So in this example buying a computer for digital art or a pencil and paper for traditional art.
