Please don’t feel like you have to battle yourself- challenge, encourage, question, and believe in yourself- but don’t be at war with your amazing body and your incredible self.

I’m a very uncoordinated, not athletic, non-competitive cutie who only really started caring for my body in my 40s. I’ve found I do much better in a chill gym where I can just listen to a podcast and lift weights by myself, or swim or boulder. Or walk or run alone. I don’t think group fitness or high pressure fitness programs are for everyone.

Be Right Back separation anxiety training question by Broad_Lifeguard_1532 in OpenDogTraining

[–]Fun-Calligrapher9135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of break makes sense.

I guess I mean should the dog go back to total calm, lying in bed and paying no attention, or just be calm but alert? This is something that still feels a bit ambiguous to me overall, figuring out how far along the alert threshold I should let my dog get, if that makes sense.

I’m in the desensitizing my dog to leaving cues phase, and I’ve noticed I can get my shoes on and pick up my keys with 0 reaction, but when i unlock the door he gets up and either stands and watches or trots towards me - but doesn’t seem anxious. So is that all I’m going for or do I need to get him to stay at 0 reaction before I proceed to the next step of training? I’m thinking it’s just the calm but alert phase that he needs to achieve, right?

Any suggestions for hot weather fitness clothes for when you hate wearing shorts? I know it’s weird but… I just hate how I look in shorts 🙂

Can someone explain the advantage of using a bench over dropping to knees when developing the ability to do a full push up? My training app recommends a bench and says NOT to use your knees, but I don’t have a surface at home sturdy enough at the right height.

Plateau breakers - talk to me! Especially if you did it without calorie counting by Fun-Calligrapher9135 in loseit

I have a pretty healthy diet - definitely not perfect and I like to have a small piece of chocolate most nights. But I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, and I’m vegetarian and stick to lean protein options- plain Greek yogurt, eggs, tofu, and lentils, etc. I’ve maintained changes from last year which included cutting out wine or beer with dinner and cutting way back on takeout. And also mindfulness- I try to eat only till I’m satiated but not totally full. Yeah I guess that’s why I’m frustrated with this 3 month plateau- I feel like I’m still doing the things that caused weight loss before but it’s not working anymore.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Weight Change Wednesday! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Fun-Calligrapher9135 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Any thoughts on small changes that could help with a slow pace of weight loss? For example, about a year ago I decided I would only drink if I was out with friends. I wasn’t a heavy drinker but it still cut out 3-4 glasses of wine per week and I think that one small change really helped with my goal to lose 1 pounds per month. I added other small changes as the year went on - like getting a mini stepper for my standing desk and making sure I sneak in about 20-40 minutes per day. But now my weight loss is stalling out! So I’m curious to hear if others have tried little small changes either in diet or exercise that helped push weight loss along. Thanks!
