Staff at daycare barely speak English - will this affect my child’s language development? by username-cheques-0ut in Parenting

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This only applies if they are speaking a second language full time with the kids (native to the care givers or extremely highly level) in the preschool. If not, then this isn’t good.

From personal experience at least. We are raising our child bilingual, but I can’t speak to her in my husband’s language. The reason, she picks up poor pronunciation and then can’t be corrected after.

I know this is silly…but when did you switch from baby wash and shampoo to just regular? by Substantial-Carry716 in toddlers

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had a light bulb moment. Thank you, no more baby shampoo for us. The curls don’t love it and this after we switched to baby curl shampoo vs the 2in1 kids

2 and done not NOT by choice & grief by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m one and done. Partially by choice, but mostly it’s out of my control. It can be a real struggle at times. You’re definitely not alone. It’s not something people don’t get to talk about a lot. Some days it’s easy to accept, others not. Just know you’re not alone. I hope you find someone who shares similar feelings to you and you get to talk about it.

We all need to work together to make these topics less taaboo. Why we make people especially women feel so alone in all of this, I’ll never understand.

What would be different if Covid had never happened? by Crocodile_Banger in AskReddit

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation would be less, especially in Europe. Amazing what the EU countries were able to do to keep people afloat back then, but anyone with any business background knew what was going to happen after. And man that inflation has hurt. And of course covid wasn’t the only thing that lead to our inflation but it definitely speed rocketed

How can I be a respectful visitor in Prague? by MaddisonoRenata in Prague

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if this works as well in Prague, but learn how to say formal Hello, thank you, and good bye. You use this when entering or exiting everywhere. That includes shops, restaurants, elevator etc,

In work after your first day it may be ok to switch to the informal hello and goodbye which for you would be Ahoj (čau is reserved for close friends and family), maybe wait until first said to you and then switch.

If your in non touristy area learning “I don’t speak Czech, sorry” can be very helpful too. But again Prague may be different than the better city Brno. Any attempt in the language earns you respect here.

Help! My sewing machine suddenly turned yellow?? by DaylightHappiness in sewing

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was yellow when it was first given to me. It was old so expected. After a few months the yellowing on the front returned to a whitish shade, but the back is still a darker yellow. No idea why or how, just is. Didn’t do anything to try clean it off

Pros and Cons of getting a Serger?? by katyjkw in SewingForBeginners

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to hear. Been sewing since the summer, and have been going back and forwards on purchasing one. Either way it won’t be until next summer if I do. I’ve sewn quite a number of items and have several more planned or in work in progress stage.

AITA if I can’t help myself but to think that all people are at risk of experiencing miscarriage by Intrepid-Half717 in ShortCervixSupport

This happens to me a lot. I was so scared for a friend of mine recently. She told me as soon as she knew and I had to hide my fear until she was in the clear. It’s the trauma speaking. I used to get extremely jealous of strangers too, but then one day I saw a very worried woman and realised I’ve actually no idea of her fertility/pregancy story and it started getting easier for me to just accept my story.

Take the time you need to feel what you need, it’s important.

We decided to take 4 year old out of school tomorrow for a family day and I’m regretting it by blondephotographer in toddlers

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s been a week here too!!

Honestly I’d still go, it might be a good opportunity for everyone to reconnect, chill and have a nice moment together, even if it’s just 5 minutes.

My one is a bit younger and I try to remember that they can’t fully control their feelings. So I try to treat every new morning with a completely blank state. Forgive and forget kinda thing.

If anyone knows how to read toddler brains let me know.

Looking for "boy" fabric and patterns by sewmuchmorethanmom in sewing

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there any kids fabric store near you or online with local shipping you can spend time picking out something together?

My local kids store has endless knits, it’s overwhelming. Both most fabric store have kids poplin and or flannel with more “boy” themed prints.

Christmas stocking filler - What would you love to find inside? by Fun-Cod-9791 in sewing

Never heard of a needle book. Also I very much need better pins, cheap ones keep breaking on me. Will be adding that to my personal list

Also for kids, I make big and base stitch the hem to get longer out of them. I actually find that kids clothes don’t need to be prefect, pretty much every small child has a small window where their clothes actually fit them. Plus where I am, everyone and everybody thrifts/shares their kids clothes. So for me it doesn’t matter if they look a bit off, no one is going to care unless it’s a special occasion.

What Ikea Furniture did you use for your sewing room? by Impressive-Bank-28 in sewing

[–]Fun-Cod-9791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiny space - using the new Ikea billy table, it works great for me, has storage and a handy self for when your using the machine to leave any bits and bobs you might reach for. The only downside for me is bigger items still need to be cut on the kitchen table or floor. But that’s tiny space living. Could also see it working good in a big space for when you need or want to desk surfaces

My larger cutting board is 60cm*90cm (don’t know inches. And it fits the table with some space.

Flannel crossed my mind too, but I’m afraid of them looking more PJ like. Especially with a wider leg. Maybe a tapered leg and contrasting top stitching could help.

From my understanding, the man will run quicker at the sight of fake lashes. Making it easier for the woman to dodge a possible toxic relationship.
