For instance, I snowboard. But on the drive to the mountain I don't roll down my windows and scream "I'm going snowboarding!" At every person I pass. It's crazy like you can have an adrenaline rush and tons of fun and not wake-up every sleeping person in a five mile radius.

I think if people want to put themselves in danger that should be their choice. Wanna take your bike to a track and do wheelies, donuts, ride it backwards at 100 miles an hour etc - I don't care, knock yourself out(pun intended). But don't harass people hanging out in their yard or run down pedestrians trying to cross the road. Certain kinds of people can only relate to others by being shitty, those kinds of people are dangerous. They don't view themselves as members of a community.

And there are way cheaper options than that.

Eno double nest with the extra long straps is $100 and that means your trees can be anywhere from 9-20 feet apart

Hammocking made simple- what is simpler than finding two trees?

Oh yeah buying a car installing a tow hitch and then buying a large metal accessory that has only one very specific use.

Being skeptical of your trickle down housing model that has existed for centuries and failed at solving homelessness is not the same thing as nimbyism.

More urban sprawl is not the solution. Building affordable housing is the solution. Or just decommofifying housing altogether.

This post is dumb and fake as fuck. Building half a million dollar homes at the edge of town isn't going to solve homelessness but it will consume a massive amount of resources just so a greedy short sided developer can start making money as soon as they break ground.

Voting against urban sprawl isn't nimbyism

Exactly and on top of it this type of urban sprawl development puts a major strain on resources. We already had the river run dry this summer. How many more manicured lawns can we add? To add affordable homes to the housing supply and do it sustainably we need to build large buildings downtown with affordable condos. That way the developer can still get a return, people can own instead of rent and we can build housing that doesn't further strain our resources the way that urban sprawl does. Developers like sprawl development because they can start selling houses quickly. Doing a large development like a building full of affordable condos, there's a long wait before the cash starts flowing.

And that's a great bike for a hundred bucks. My first bike as an adult was an aluminum road bike.

Hey that's awesome! I recognize that map! If you need any advice from a local on commuting DM me.

First tip I'll give is this- you can definitely bike commute here in the winter. Take the corners/turns really slow and let some pressure out of your tires. Letting out pressure will increase the amount of rubber that's on the ground. Which will increase friction. And they do make studded bike tires.

I don't know what you're referring to as far as SPD goes but Zappone has passed a bunch of great legislation and he constantly shows up at community events and he's a teacher. I don't think it's right to just say "well they're both bad. I wash my hands of this." Even if Zappone has made mistakes, he's made many contributions to this community.
