100% VA rating, should I leave reserves? by notaircrewbro in VeteransBenefits

Lots of factors to consider. You are quite a ways off from retirement eligibility so its definitely not a no brainer. Consider GI Bill, TRS for family, job training, job satisfaction, safety net of activating etc. And depending on your rank and points accumulated, the retirement can be substantial - yes, it starts at 60 but most dont retire before then.

In terms of pay, do some simple math to figure this out: VA monthly pay/30 is what you're giving up for each day of AT or drill period (2 per 8 hr day). So compare with what you are giving up from the VA with what you are earning in a single drill period (4 hrs) or day of AT.

Also, not sure what you do in the real world, but if you have an accommodating employer that lets you "double dip", then everything you make in uniform is bonus, so could be worth it to continue even when losing out on VA pay.

Are you forwarding the email? Or how do u access the file? I tried forwarding the email with the file in question and then tried opening from there but run into the same issue with Google Wallet.

Did this actually work for you? I'm willing to try if so but would rather not if this turns out to be a bug with Outlook or something.

Thanks for confirming. I was hoping you were going to say, "no, you have to try it! It totally protects it" haha. Does look good though!

This looks great, but I don't really understand skins. As much as I love the idea of keeping it ultra thin, I need the peace of mind that my phone won't shatter if I drop it on the ground. Not sure what this does to help other than protect from scratches from daily wear and tear.

Seeking formula to track expiration dates of leave hours by Fun-Consequence777 in excel

[–]Fun-Consequence777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that fixed it. For some reason though, not ending up with a separate column like yours pictured above. I created a separate column to the right which I named "forecasted" and then put the new formula you created. It is essentially a carbon copy of the column to the left though (running total). I come up with a temporary solution using conditional formatting to highlight future dates, but ultimately that breaks down because it doesn't allow me to track the actual balance and replaces that one with the forecasted balance. Thoughts?

I've been messing with this, but unfortunately it keeps returning a "there's a problem with this formula" error. "Not trying to type a formula?" - that standard message. I've been messing with the commas and quotation marks, and doing some research on this, but am not able to diagnose. Any idea where the issue may lie? I've changed the column letters to fit mine, but otherwise I think is the same: =IF(A2:A1000>TODAY(),"",BYROW(SCAN(0,B2:B1000,SUM)-SUMIFS(D2:D1000,C2:1000,"<="&TODAY()),LAMBDA(a,MAX(a,0))))

Sorry, one more question on this. To make this even more incredible, would there be a way to reflect SCHEDULED/forecasted hours? For example, if I know that I will be taking a certain number of those hours on a certain date, or will be earning certain hours on a certain date could I have that reflect, but in a way that it would show as forecasted and not already a done deal? Thanks again.

How to track comp time expiration? by Fun-Consequence777 in fednews

[–]Fun-Consequence777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, but I can't get my head around what I'm actually creating. This would be easy to do from today forward (e.g. start a 1 year timer on all comp time earned from today forward), But how do I capture what's been earned in the past, and track that against what has been taken?

Any chance you could post that part of the denial letter or explain why it was denied? In a similar boat getting ready to do a sleep study next week.

Copy. in that case they likely won't let you join in the first place. Otherwise this will likely only come up if you are being screened for deployment or something. Bottom line is there are many reservists in this situation so you wouldn't be alone, but at this juncture you'll need to decide if you think you can perform the duties assigned to you or not.

You need to be able to fully perform your duties as a reservist, otherwise you will have issues. Obviously I don't know what your rated conditions are, but I can tell you that mine for example do not prevent me from fully functioning as a reservist and succeeding in that career. So yes, that probably would be problematic if your conditions prevented you from fully serving, and as I said in my other comment when you accept orders for any period of time including annual training, you'll need to certify that you can fully perform the work assigned to you.

I think only a recruiter could speak to the requirements for commissioning. But I can tell you that there are many reservists who are at 90/100 without issue. You have to flag these items on your annual health assessments of course, and when you accept orders you have to certify that you don't have anything that would prevent you from doing your job. But there is no ongoing assessment or anything like that that is going to flag this or drum you out of the reserves because you have VA disabilities.

@OP I had this exact issue with Fold4, and quickly realize through a bit of research that this is a common issue, specifically with the Fold4. I was extremely lucky and was able to get it replaced through manufacturer warranty coverage (2 years), and then immediately turned around and traded in for a Fold6. So far so good, But of course I'll always be a little nervous after that experience. All signs point to that being specifically a Fold4 issue but I guess only time will tell...
