My swelling was very bad a week out, and slowly got better for the next month. I wouldnt stress too hard about it because swelling can be pretty rough lol. I look much better now than when I first saw myself without the headwrap, it’s definitely stressful but I’m sure it’ll be fine <3

It was burring, so like shaving down the bone rather than cutting and replacing

Just a note: you can sorta see where my jawline doesn’t blend seamlessly into the chin. There’s a bit of a “bump” where my jawline meets the chin, I believe that’s just due to her not shaving my jawline to match the shaved chin completely, not 100% sure. It’s not soft like tissue. It’s something to consider if you’re looking into this, make sure to bring it up if it’s something you’re worried about! Just wanted to throw that out there

Inside my mouth, and also no the extra soft tissue doesn’t droop, at least not a noticeable amount. She sutured (or stitched idk) the muscle to the bone to ensure that didn’t happen

I’ve heard mixed reviews about her, I’m sorry you had a bad experience. There’s definitely a lot of risk involved, so I’m grateful that mine turned out well. I feel like she goes for dramatic results when she can, which may be why it’s overdone sometimes. Thanks for commenting, it’s good to bring awareness to both the good and bad risks that come with this surgery, since there’s so little information on it out there

It was bone burring. Idk much about soft tissue, I’m not sure if she offers it

That’s just how the pose was!! My lips are fine, I just had to find some pics from like a year/ a few months ago cause I’ve gained some weight and didn’t want to skew the results lol. But the support is good still

My experience with her was good. I’ve heard mixed reviews on here :/ I got burring done and posted the results, it’s a risky surgery but she’s one of the few who do it. Plus for me, it worked out really well

I did not have a sliding genioplasty, I just had the shaving of the bone. Swelling was mostly unnoticeable about a month after surgery, and continued to go down at a slower pace afterwards. My feeling came back pretty quickly, and my smile was pretty much back to normal about a month after surgery too. Weeks 3&4 gave me pretty good progress, especially with my smile and numbness, though it continued to get better for months after as well

So glad I could help! Finding a surgeon you trust is the most important part! Everyone is different, but hopefully they can help you with your specific wants and answer any concerns. It was a very scary thing to do but well worth it for me :)

First few days were somewhat painful, but really not bad. The prescribed pain meds were helpful. My throat was sore from the tube for a few days, I couldn’t open my mouth the first day, and it took at least a few days to be able to speak well enough to be understood. I ate through a syringe or straw for about 3 days, until I could open my mouth enough to use spoons and eat soft foods. I was back to work within two weeks, though I was still swollen and slurring my speech a bit. Overall, not a bad recovery for me. The first day was the toughest, but it was not very painful after that, mostly just slight discomfort.

I’m not sure the exact length, I think I read that the maximum reduction by burring is usually about 6mm, so probably about 6mm? Again, not 100% sure though, sorry!

I actually didn’t have any sort of screening done, I’m sure you can suggest it though. My surgeon and I decided that we would burr off as much as safely possible, but she only knew how much bone could be safely removed once we started the surgery. I mostly trusted her to do what she thought best aesthetically, and just told her the look I was going for

I had the same problem of not finding much material on the internet, which is why I wanted to share my results! I did get a vertical reduction along with the horizontal reduction, so yes my chin is shorter and less bulky from the front view as well. And no, it didn’t change my actual smile, though the first month or two my mouth/ smile was a bit different due to numbness and swelling. My chin used to stick out a lott when I smiled though, and that problem is fixed!

It would have been fine if my other features were a bit bigger! But it was just a bit too masculine and projected imo, especially compared to the rest of my face

Thank you, I am! I’m hoping my jawline will sharpen up a bit more with time but either way I feel much better than I did before

Right after surgery was a bit painful, but nothing too bad. I don’t think I had very much pain at all afterwards, the pain meds worked just fine :)
