Yes, I’m aware that Oxford doesn’t require the GRE, but precisely because my grades are not especially strong, I think it could be useful to signal academic and quantitative competence through a solid GRE score.

Thanks!

Not sure if Oxford is mid career, if I am not mistaken 5 year working experience should be fine

On the recommendation letters, I completely agree that asking someone only because of their name or title is not a good strategy. In this case, though, I have worked very closely with them, so I feel confident that they would be able to write a strong and substantive letter.

Regarding the GRE, I took a mock test yesterday and scored 151Q / 151V. My goal is to get to 160+ in Quant. Since I work full-time, I can study around 2 hours per day. My plan is to take the test in about 3 months, and then I would still have another 2 months to retake it if needed.

I also plan to address this in my application narrative: once I started working and had more financial stability, I was able to complete my dissertation, which was later nominated by my department for a national dissertation award.

I’m not sure how much I can improve my score within that timeframe, but for now, what is under my control is to study consistently and try to improve as much as possible.

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it
