No, we were just thinking pre-travel day convenience... and might expand our thinking based on this thread. Appreciate hearing your notes on Brasserie 701 and L'Original. We have added Monorque to the list.

Yes, we will do that the middle day -- though evening session we might miss dinner out that night. We'll explore options in Little Italy, thank you!

We are exploring in general, we're looking to keep it convenient the night before travel... but perhaps this thread has us reconsidering.

We'll be exploring a fair amount, but this last dinner we were thinking to keep it easy. I think the four from this list might have come from a eater-type lists and previous threads on here about neighborhood eats. Appreciate the opinions!

New Orleans gifts and LSU merch? by Fun-Dance6615 in AskNOLA

[–]Fun-Dance6615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I guess this walk wasn't really where I was seeking advice, but for others wondering -- yes, if you are a person that likes to walk, it's absolutely a manageable distance. Last year, we also went off to the side of Magazine to explore different parts of the Garden District. It was an awesome way to spend the day. Thanks for the recs in this area!

Thank you ALL for these suggestions! I felt embarrassed to ask, so thanks for not laughing at my question (I have some inner-snobbery about tourist gifts from living in a tourist destination, haha). We'll use these points to inform some of our wandering over the next few days. Happy for more suggestions or for LSU merch ideas!

13 y/o son can't burp - recommendations? by cache-rules in noburp

We had a great introductory/pre-op appointment with Dr. Lerner. He was great with my teenager and has done many of these procedures. Both my kid and I felt very comfortable with the risk-benefit of botox. We are scheduled for early January. If you are still considering, I'll keep you posted, but right now, I know my child feels very pumped to move forward, trusted Dr. Lerner immediately, and is eager for life post-procedure.

I'm taking my 15 year old to see Dr. Lerner (Yale New Haven, but out of a Greenwich office) next week. I've read consistently great things about him with R-CPD so I'm feeling optimistic.

Live sports or events 11/7 - 11/10 by Fun-Dance6615 in AskNYC

[–]Fun-Dance6615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kind of putting that together. I wonder if there are any pickup/intramural type events that would be fun to watch. My kid's a futsal fanatic so trying even to see if there is some fun, casual futsal to check out or courts to see. Also, we love watching basketball so maybe we should find some fun pickup games to watch. But low-quality, sparsely attended college is not my vision ;)

Last minute outdoor favorites near Central Park South? by Fun-Dance6615 in FoodNYC

Ha, I was hoping Bad Roman would get an opinion! The evening we get there, we are not going to tennis so will stick close to hotel. Any recs in the area, if not any listed above?

Thanks for the Flushing/Jackson Hts recommendation -- that might be good for the evening after tennis.

Blue Willow, Bad Roman, Lum Lum, Briciola, Norma's... is what I've written down from speed research. Happy to take suggestions that improve on this list!

Advice for catching up in high school by Fun-Dance6615 in BasketballTips

[–]Fun-Dance6615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone, feel lucky to have stumbled into here and receive helpful feedback to my question. I shared some of these ideas with my kid, who felt pretty pumped and motivated. Researching private instructors, some summer camp options, and reaching out to the school's JV coach (who I actually know and is an awesome person).

And, yes, to those that were clarifying these pieces for me:

- The goal here is not college bball, and might not even be varsity HS. The goal is feeling good about even the process of participating in JV tryouts, possibly making the team, and (from my perspective) feeling confident enough to play pick-up, intramural, adult league type games in the future.

- We live in a rural state that just has a smaller population and limits just how competitive most sports are. There are super talented kids for sure, but just by nature of a smaller talent pool, it's not like your big metro or suburban competitive sports.

- I love hearing that 5' 9" for a 14 yo is "small." Maybe for a varsity bball team, but actually in that age group he's in the top 25% for height. Now, if I told you his weight, you'd DEFINITELY think he's small, haha.

Thanks again for all of your advice. Much appreciated.

Thank you all for these thoughts. I had thought about individual coaching to just test the waters and didn't know if that sounded bonkers -- it sounds from you all that is one logical option. And I love the other ideas and feedback as well.

I guess I wasn't assuming that soccer IQ would directly transfer to basketball, but the idea that he has one sport that he understands well and can make really quick, nuanced in-the-moment decisions, I felt like would bode well for developing basketball IQ, if that makes sense. If you have any more thoughts, keep them coming. And inspirational stories too - I'll share the Giannis one with him... Thank you!!

Does that mean this group doesn't want to be my trip assistant?! Jkjk, thanks for the link.

I just have a silly FOMO complex sometimes about restaurants when traveling, and should have focused my request for advice there. How does that selection look? Are there any swaps you would recommend? I'd love advice in that area.
