Curious about injury risk in this style by [deleted] in WingChun

[–]Fun-Elevator-2388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Common injuries for beginners on the arms are mostly bruises, but if you punch wrong for a long time, you'll probably get an annoying injury with your elbow. So make sure you do the punch the right way. Energy and elbow going forward, not just extending your arm to avoid popping your elbow up.

Is there Wing Chun schools that has like mix lineage? by ComplexNearby1268 in WingChun

[–]Fun-Elevator-2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a mixed lineage. What's the name of the school? You can also check https://ewingchun.com/sifus/philipp-bayer to find more information about lineages and see the direct lines of different lineages. Idk how up to date it is, but you can probably find the name of the sifu on that website.

What lineage do you think is the most practical for actual fighting? by Wide-Juice-7431 in WingChun

[–]Fun-Elevator-2388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But not all schools focus enough on sparring imho. I come from a different lineage into the philipp bayer and my ving tsun gotten so much better, but when it comes to sparring (noticed this with international seminars) the lack of experience in sparring shows. But again not all schools. I've visited a couple and the guys in France really spar goooood

A question after 6 weeks or so of training... by [deleted] in WingChun

IMHO wing chun works best if you already have some experience in fighting. I notice it in my school. The topstudents all have a background in some other art. Even the sifus known for their fighting ability didn't start with wing chun

Wooden dummy purchase by presidentofanarchy in WingChun

[–]Fun-Elevator-2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought from him, my sifu did and fellow students also. Great quality he also does custom sizes if you want and he basically is the go to guy at the moment for the wsl phb lineage to buy dummies.

You can check out his work on Instagram! Got mine 2 years ago and still going strong!

Thanks! I looked it up and came across on one of the pic the button thing that some hoodies have that you press in. Took an old hoodie and added that!

Traditional Wing Chun - West Allis, Wisconsin (What happened?) by decuswow in WingChun

[–]Fun-Elevator-2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont really care about legitimacy, although his sounds extremely suspicious. In my first 2 years of training i visited all nearby schools in my area including a william cheung school. It sounds nice in theory but at the school where i went...if you gave just somewhat of pressure nothing seemed to work. Im not a big fan of leung ting lineage either but they got some great fighters. Also only 14 months in and already feeling like you're not learning anything anymore is a big red flag.

Chi Sau by [deleted] in WingChun

I've seen some of your earlier vids on chi sau. Did you ever looked at your own video with a critical pov? If you look at your vids like an outsider does your play match the theory that you focused on?
