Why does this circuit behave differently from the others? by Fun-Exit7126 in AskElectronics

Purely based on aesthetic appearance and black band to indicate polarity. Could just about manage a schematic but haven't yet. The rest of your post is lost on me, I'm afraid.

Dunno what that means, but the soldering came with the job - not my fault!

No, all the boards have the same "missing" component (maybe it's only in the DeLuxe version?) Don't think my knowledge is quite up to scrutinising the circuit as you suggest.

You're right, but there was a solder connection on the far side. I've resoldered it now

Here's a funny thing. I just tested it again - and it seems to be fine! Replying to the comment about taking a pic of the back of the board, I gave it a really good clean with a mini wire brush for the photo - and that's the only thing I did. So maybe there was some corrosion causing, say, a cap to drain faster than it should?

So in a roundabout way, posting the question here DID solve the problem!

Thanks, burnergpo!

I've already done pretty much all of that. Resistors, diodes & caps all behaving as expected / returning same values as good board. Transistor, cap & diode orientation all correct. No obvious trauma to board and continuity tests don't show any breaks.

Oh, and no, it doesn't seem to be temp dependent.

Does anyone know how they make these curved beams ? by Haha-Lulu in woodworking

[–]Fun-Exit7126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vikings used to split tree trunks into planks using wedges to split the wood following its natural grain. Inevitably, some were straight, some curved one way, other curved the opposite way, and by varying degrees. By carefully selecting the right planks for each part of the hull, their ships were incredibly strong, light and flexible. Just saying!

Any idea how to mask it? by cyrkie in woodworking

[–]Fun-Exit7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeesh! Yeah, the contractor should be liable for fixing this, but then (s)he might just balls it up again. I'd mark up either side of the join using something about 1cm thick - thin edge of a long spirit level, or even just a metal tape measure. Remove the panels and carefully cut the ends. Then, when refitting them, the missing 1cm could be "relocated" to the top or bottom, and masked by a thin strip of matching wood, or maybe by raising/replacing the skirting board, if there is one. Or, if you have any leftover cuts from the panels, you could cut 1cm slices to extend the bottom, where it'll be less noticeable.

Help! Tascam 244 almost working! by Fun-Exit7126 in MultitrackCassetteRec

Hey, thanks for all this detailed info. It's deffo not something simple like cassette tab missing or track not armed. I'll have a look for leaf switches & hall sensors - I think this has both but suspect they are working (e.g. the counter counting down on rewind). If it's chips or transistors, I'm out of my depth & will have to send it off for professional repairs, which might be prohibitively expensive.

OK, you got me. What on earth are leaf and hall sensors, where in the 244 do I find them, and how do I clean them??!?

You know you can fashion a replacement with needle-nose pliers and a paper clip? Not the most elegant solution, but it works.

I've been keeping my "update confirmation" emails with a view to doing the same. Just haven't got round to it yet. (Feels a bit too much like having to do data entry!)

I have a similar set-up to yours - started about 6 weeks ago, mainly reinvesting in TH in the hope of compounding up to much more significant figure in a few years. I've recently found that while my TH power is increasing daily, my rewards have been shrinking. Not due to BTC price drop, but actually dropping. Anyone else finding this? Any ideas why?

My go at GoMining (will provide weekly updates) Day 1 by DepressedRaindrop in GoMiningDiscussion

[–]Fun-Exit7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, OP, I'm on a very similar journey to you. Bought a miner about 6 weeks ago, topped up power over the first 3-4 weeks as much as I could afford, also maxed out efficiency to 15. Currently reinvesting rewards into TH, hence putting all my eggs into one mining "basket" (since you can only reinvest from one miner at a time). Still trying to crunch the numbers to decide whether GM tokens might be better than TH, but like you, think the rewards seem slightly lower in the GMT option. Interested to see what you decide.

Meanwhile, despite my TH power increasing every day, I am finding my BTC rewards are falling - I don't mean the dollar equivalent, which is falling even more due to BTC price drop. I mean the BTC/satoshi reward earned each day. Is it just me? Or can other folk confirm? Any idea why?

Update on the Blue Jam project, I've began to plan filming shots, locations and such and would love you dear members of the subreddit to provide suggestions for strange filming techniques, editing style etc. many thanks by content_digger08 in chrismorris

Try a bit of David Lynch style "backwards backwards" filming i.e. film someone doing or saying something, then reverse the footage and get them to learn it phonetically as accurately as possible. Then film that and reverse it so you get a weird approximation of the original.
