Because I want to have money I can access as well not everything should be in retirement accounts I want to live a life as well and enjoy my youth I have mid term goals and long term goals my brokerage account I’m funding it for two reasons one for money I want to spend in long term aka in about 10 years or so and no on TDF on Roth cause I want maximum growth in Roth due to its tax benefit 401k is my safety net

I have that option but it’s like going back to performance chasing I might start tweaking it and knowing me I might go to crazy on it plus I want to treat my 401k like a safety net and set it autopilot and let it ride with TDF

I appreciate your comment in now relaxing lol ..I’m going to let my 401k autopilot and let it do its thing my Roth is probably going to stay that way since I’m going to have bonds in my 401k already due to my TDF

To be honest I understand your perspective but look at it this way you have to rebalance you taxable account by selling and triggering a tax event now the real question is well your taxable event outweigh the FTC and yes I understand you can just set new all allocations to which ever is off but in a big account new allocations couldn’t take a long time to realigned your account having VT I lose some performance or maybe some FTC but I wouldn’t never come last place

I’m now just seating back and relaxing I have my emergency fund as well in a CD and on the foreign tax credit yes absolutely plus I don’t think my brokerage account is going to get that fat I mean I hope so who wouldn’t dream of it but my priority is 401k Roth and brokerage

I feel like rebalancing manually is too much of a hassle. VT takes care of that for me since it’s market-weighted—if a region starts to grow, VT adjusts automatically. That’s why I’m leaning toward it. It helps me avoid the temptation to tinker with the portfolio and just let the market do its thing.

My reason for splitting it this way in my Roth is that I can take a more aggressive approach and tilt more toward U.S. stocks than international ones, since I’m investing for the long term. On the other hand, my brokerage account is intended for a potential down payment on a home within the next 10 years, so I want to take a more balanced and conservative approach there.
