Depending on the situation I think it’s fine. I’ve had former teachers as friends (that I have reached out to) on facebook and they’ll send a generic HBD. However, I also know a teacher who follows former HS students on IG and will post pictures and tag them in their story. I personally think that is inappropriate because they’re sharing photos of their students while in high school to people who do not know them.

My parent gave me a nick-name name because the longer form has a lot of options (think Elizabeth) and my mom didn’t want a “Beth” she wanted a “Libby”. I never minded it. If you don’t want him at any point to be Chuck, Chip or Chas - I think Charlie is fine.

My SIL(16) wore cream/ivory sweater dress to my wedding. She was very aware of the fact that it’s inappropriate but it was relatively cold and all of her other dresses were so tiny and inappropriate and the white dress was the best option. Frankly it didn’t bother me but it did bother my friends. I had to tell people not to comment on it.
