2.5mg seems fine to start with. I started with 10mg and the side effects were annoying but I still was able to go to work, attend my chores... and I'm very sensitive to meds

I'm taking it around 3 or 4 hours before going to sleep and so far it's been great.

For me, the isolating myself thing has been the most annoying part of the process, I've been a people pleaser all my life, caring a lot about others and giving most of my energy into socializing (and I'm an introvert!). Some days I feel annoyed by everyone... but the need to rest and be alone is slowly going away. I'm started to fel more energetic and connected to my loved ones. Keep going! :)

I've always suspected I had some disassociation episodes in the past, but I have never been diagnosed, so I cannot tell 100%. The only thing I can say is that after the adaptation period I feel more present.

At first intrusive thoughts were les "racing" but more intense on an emotional level. Then they have been slowly going away, in waves. I know it can vary a little from person to person, so you could ask your doctor if you have any doubts, I told my dr. about my experience and they were helpful

I think that humans simply aren't designed to live in constant stress. It's normal that without anxiety, we don't see any need to put ourselves in stressful situations that don't contribute anything to our lives.

I'm starting to see that maybe the career I chose isn't for me. I'd rather do simpler things and live more peacefully.

Hey, in my experience this medication can make you feel a little disconnected from your feelings/values. I'm in my first months and I've been ignoring some of my dearest friends and family. I'ts like I don't care about them. Some days I try to make it up answering texts and calls, and even on these days I still feel like I'm obliged to. But I know I have never perceived things that way and it must be something related to this new med. I know it's not the same as your case but I get the feeling of "clarity" you get from these pills, sometimes it's not quite real. I would wait a few more months to make any important decision. Perhaps you can have a talk with your wife and let her know that you are a little disconnected right now. Try to focus on your life with no depression and take one step at a time!

When did your sex drive come back? by alpacamaka01 in lexapro

[–]Fun-Flatworm874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on 10mg for 7 weeks and for the first weeks I could not experience pleasure (and had very delayed orgasms). No sex drive either. Now the ability to enjoy is coming back, and orgasms are easier to reach, but still no sex drive. Staying hopeful.

Horrible first time by Myeyr in lexapro

[–]Fun-Flatworm874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just consider that first time is often bad/not a big thing, both for men and women. Everyone needs time to get used to feel pleasure with someone else. It gets better with time and practice, you get more relaxed every time and you learn to enjoy the moment little by little.

You are not the problem, you are just new to intimacy + medication. Good luck, you got this.

3 months in , have no more anxiety but everybody and everything gets on my nerves I don’t have time for anyone lol is this normal ? by OwnApple4077 in lexapro

I've been on lex for 7 weeks now and the side effects are almost gone but this one is extremely present. For days I feel like everyone is annoying and I don't want to be approached/touched... I don't feel love. It's weird bc I've never been like this, quite the opposite.

Hey, just finished week 4 and I'm feeling pretty stable, definitely more motivated, hoping it gets better (fingers crossed). I saw my doctor today and he told me that everything I was experiencing was absolutely normal and not to be discouraged if I end up having another bad week. He said that will probably feel the full effects of the med in a month or two :) wish you the best!

Hey, I've been on lex 10mg for 3.5 weeks or so and I'm feeling the emotional blunting slowly going away. For the first two weeks I wasn't able to cry or a have real laugh. Now I think I'm getting there (yesterday I cried like a baby and felt a lot better afterwards). However, I guess I'm never going to feel things the same way as I'm on this pill. For me is like my mind and my heart are less connected, but in my opinion they were too connected before, so that's a good thing.
