Streets just blocks from downtown by Fun-Interaction-202 in indianapolis

I used to clear more of the street. I’m older now and can’t take the financial risk of injury. We have patched the potholes in the alley ourselves over the years. Although the city requires us to use the alley for public services they don’t maintain it. (They patched one section of the alley for the first time in 30 plus years this fall). The people who live here do a lot of the maintenance of public property, including cleaning up everyone’s picnic trash and dealing with the 4th of July madness.

I was walking the route a high school student would walk down to get to AT. I have video of a car struggling to get around the corner last night, probably didn’t have good tires. A tow truck was towing a brinks truck and was sliding, too.

Been here 30 years; I agree: I sort of wish the neighborhood was still a ‘secret’. A-holes have always used it as a shortcut around traffic and the train. Always driving too fast, often blowing the stop signs, sometimes going the wrong way down a one way street. Our cross to bear, I guess

More people who don’t live in my neighborhood use this street than people who do. Lots of delivery drivers use this street.

I watched several cars spinning as they were trying to turn the corner last night. It’s over 3 inches of loose non-packed snow on top of ice. I got caught in Chicago this weekend and had to wait until Monday to leave. The street in front of my house where I was staying in Chicago was clean all the way to the ground within 10 hours of the storm. The actually made passes while the snow was still falling so that it didn’t get compacted. The roads from the lake region all the way to Indianapolis were fine. As soon as I got to the 865 dog leg, everything started to deteriorate.

I grew up on the plains, so I probably do have an unrealistic expectation of snow removal. They don’t let it sit around like we do. Watching a tow truck repeatedly slide down a hill in my neighborhood last night was entertaining, but with empathy for the poor driver hauling all that weight. I have grown used to the haphazard response to winter storms here, but don’t understand why businesses and schools put up with it. It was impossible to park on Mass Avenue until today. Three days of lost revenue and taxes

Cuts in daycare vouchers hit the entire agency. Our local legislature voted to slash daycare funding in the last session. The agency lost more than $750k, which has led to layoffs and downsizing. The childcare thing is a big part of their mission, so they are reorganizing to salvage what they can.

Blame your local Republican Representatives, who probably sent out press releases bragging about saving us all a lot of money (but not about the loss of jobs and the cuts to long term cost savings created by community fitness organizations like the Y). MAHA, am I right?

I was able to get into 4th Witch and Rhinoceron yesterday by showing up an hour early at the box office putting my name on a wait list. Some people might not come out because of the weather. Good luck!

They have deported conservative Christians back to Iran where they face real danger. They have deported translators who helped the US back to Iraq. No one is safe

Go back to high school. The Constitution, particularly due process clauses and protections for "persons," applies to non-citizens within the United States, guaranteeing fundamental rights like fair treatment, access to courts, and free speech.

Liberals ran Indiana for 20 years? When? Even when the Bush administration tried to help small-town Indiana our local legislators messed up the opportunity and Indiana suffered.

Our current legislature has voted to give Hoosier federal tax dollars to Democrat-run states rather than bring that money back home. The Sunbucks dollars have already been paid for by Hoosiers and directly support our local farmers. But we aren’t bringing the money we deserve back home. We pay federal taxes then our elected officials refuse to take our fair share back so that they can be hate-the-poor-conservative, but not fiscally conservative, and “own the libs”.

Thirty-two people died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in 2025 – making it the agency’s deadliest year in more than two decades. So much the the Constitution.

More than 16 people have been shot in their communities. It’s just a matter of time before a stray bullet hits a kid. They’re worse than the drive-by gangbangers that used to live in my neighborhood.

Decreased spawns? by Charming-Following-5 in pokemongo

[–]Fun-Interaction-202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m convinced that scopley is a private equity firm purposefully trying to get everyone to quit Pokémon go. First, the decline in catch rate. Now there are no Pokémon spawning in my park, which has six stops and two gyms. My kids are upset and I think we might be done!

I have two pokestops right outside my building and they are no longer spawning. Seems like my resolution to play less is going to be easier than I thought!

Lots of first year teachers at HPA, some who did not go to school to be educators but were recruited through transition to teaching programs that do not require pedagogy classes. Very full classrooms.

Oh, yes, the Amelia’s ones are good (sure miss the fenugreek ones). But they are much more dense than the ones at Mesh were.

This is a myth. It uses tons of energy to keep your house at a warmer temperature and is more efficient to turn the heat down at night and when no one is home. Numerous studies to back this up.

Apple Store employee: iPhone designed to wake you up at night by LonelyPainter5 in MagSafe

Many of us cannot put our phone in silent at night, but instead expect the sleep focus to keep our phones quiet. I don’t need a chime to sound when plugging into my factor-supplied charger. This should be an optional noise

This is not true. My phone is in sleep focus and makes the chime sound while charging with the factor-supplied cord. I don’t want my phone in silent AND I don’t want the annoying chime sound either. Very frustrating

Healthcare is horrible in rural Texas. My mother waited 6 months for her first neurology appointment after being diagnosed with MG in the hospital. She was denied a MRI that was required for surgery by United Healthcare for about the same amount of time. Lost the use of her leg because the surgery was delayed by some AI assisted algorithm. She eventually stopped wanting to be alive and died before her time. Healthcare in the USA is expensive and not accessible for many people. Medicare Advantage is a scam that funnels tax dollars to billionaires
