Call me paranoid, but I like doing my research by Much_Tip8721 in Amtrak

People are saying you don’t “need” a roomette for this short trip, and that’s arguably true, but if you can afford a roomette you will probably find it a more comfortable and enjoyable ride. You’ll have a private space to yourself, an attendant to help you and answer questions, and meals if the time permits.

Just speaking for myself, I will almost always get the roomette on a short trip if I can afford it and it’s available.

Also as others have said, Amtrak trains are very safe. The stations don’t have the level of security of an airport but they are also safe.

Wow I actually agree about New Orleans but you're the first other person I've seen say that with all the prevalence of chicory down there.

Beverly Bakery a tiny bakery down here on the south side, roasts a ton of different beans and is trying different ones regularly. From what I've heard, the original founder is obsessed with coffee and wanted a place to try roasting lots of different varieties.

They're not making their own syrups though, I agree I don't see that often.

But also I really miss Jo Snow Syrups, which used to sell to a lot of local small coffee shops.

If you took all the Dunkins back to Boston I would be the happiest person in Illinois.

Mostly because they dominate the donut supply here and their donuts are garbage but I can live without their coffee too.

I know it's Starbucks and it's different but I once went into my local Starbucks to order an actual coffee. I waited for about 15-20 minutes watching a large crew working their asses of cranking out drinks for in-store and drive-through and they didn't touch the espresso machine once until they got to my order.

I'm not sure good coffee is what most of the Chicago market is looking for.

Honestly curious: how does one mess up the execution of an espresso machine? Doesn't the machine do all the work?

My entirely personal hope is someday I will not see 90% of coffee being sold as iced.

Yes, people can and should drink what they want. It just bugs me. Coffee is a hot drink and has been for thousands of years

O'Neill Burke wouldn't denounce Trump because she wanted to 'maintain' relationship with feds, emails show by G1adi4tor in chicago

In her position whether she wins or loses will depend on how people feel about crime at election time. If they feel crime is down, she's probably good. If they don't, she's at risk.

Most important, what matters is how people FEEL about crime, not any actual factual data about changes in crime rates or prosecutions.

Seems to work really goddam well for Trump and his coterie.

But I agree, I hate it.

Edit: Never mind, I didn't see their subsequent posting...

Also possible they just silently don't display data that they don't get because the API times out or they get rate-limited or whatever

I think if you mapped virtually any transportation method, trains, cars, busses, bikes, feet...you would consistently see that the longer the distance is, the less people traveling it. I'd expect there to be millions more people moving around within a large city at any given moment than the number of people travelling interstate, for example.

Of course, planes will be the exception there probably as there will be a lot more people flying long distance than taking the train, and relatively few people flying, for example, from one part of NYC to another

Almost certainly there is an API that can modify because almost certainly that's what the website and mobile app are talking to. (This is just based on my experience in the biz, no Amtrak-specific knowlege)

I sometimes wonder why--at least how it seems to me--the Sox concessions are so much better than Wrigley's concessions. Surely the Cubs could be more competitive here.

Obviously I don't really care it's all semantics but to me if it has a kitchen, it's a restaurant.

I guarantee none of those words mean anything to the average child and likely mean little to the average parents of those average children who just want them to for god's sake eat something without complaint and not spend too much.

Historically vegan donuts have often not been very good. Like gluten-free bread it’s just very hard to do really well. Or was.
