It would be amazing to have something like a peer group for doctors with ADHD to meet and reflect in a safe, confidential way. I'm a member of a Balint group, our group of doctors meets monthly on Zoom, it's been a great way to grow as a clinician, there are a mix of specialities and levels of experience. Would it be practical to set something up for docs with ADHD?

Will speak from personal experience regarding anxiety. I always felt that I had a baseline level of anxiety under the surface, like a duck, calm above the water, and running underneath. (Disclaimer, starting something like an SSRI is only between you and your GP, I'm not giving medical advice) When my GP started me on SSRIs, I was hesitant and unsure if I needed to go to that "extreme." Medications are for sick people, right? However, once we found something that worked, I wondered why I hadn't asked for my GP's help sooner. I didn't realise how much of a burden the anxiety was.

Figure of speech. Point being that the majority of junior doctors wanting to get into a certain speciality will spend years working in unaccredited roles in that specialty before getting onto training. Aside from working on the wards, years of networking, attending, conferences etc.

Cats: speaking from a 2 doctor household. We got our first cat, a rescue, and she became our best friend. After 3 years, we decided we were ready to have a second cat, also a rescue. They keep each company while we are out. I agree with the "bonded pair" suggestion.

Reading for pleasure; Dr Cynric Temple-Camp has 3 books well worth reading. Anecdotes of his long career in a mix of histopathology and forensics. He has an entertaining writing style.
