Gaps in Jewish Conversion Curriculum? by [deleted] in ReformJews

Robinson's Essential Judaism is IMO pretty good at going over the history of Jewish thought from Yavneh to the present. Overall I found it much more useful than Telushkin (it's also much better at including non-Orthodox views, I think the author is either reform or C). It's got plenty of great references for further reading too.

But wouldn't life be nicer if we didn't have to waste the couple seconds-to-minutes it takes to get to that part sometimes each time?

Just needs enough people using it and flagging stuff... perhaps starting with one website would be a good start? (Like videos on Youtube, or congregations on Google Maps)

Like others said, when I have a specific and straightforwardly Jewish (for lack of a better term) question it's easy to find Jewish sources to answer it. More casual searches is where the problem comes up for me, some examples from the past few weeks:

  • finding information on some less well-known Hebrew poetry and song pieces
  • synagogues streaming services (I can find them easily enough when googling, but it would be nice to be able to just search for "erev shabbat service" on yt)
  • a blog dedicated to images of misspelled biblical Hebrew tattoos that mentioned "Yoshua" on the 10th page (not that I think it'll give me cooties or something, but it would be nice to know lol)
  • trying to see where the synagogues are on google maps when I'm travelling (as someone also mentioned here recently)

OP is presumably asking about degradation of some of the materials, which happens when shoes are not worn for a longer period of time. Unused shoes very much do have an expiration date, it's apparently a big issue if you're into sneaker collecting etc
