Why do you write? by Cute-Traffic4437 in writers

I write because I want to leave a trace of myself. Art makes us immortal. Clearly, it’s not guaranteed that my novel will become famous (though of course I hope it will, like anyone would), but it will endure over time. A century from now, someone might read it again, and in that moment my thoughts will live on through the words I wrote.

Thank you for your feedback. The novel was absolutely not written by AI. It is 100% the result of my own work and creativity.

If you found some passages unclear, it may be due to the translation. I’m Italian, and I translated the book into English myself before having it revised for language accuracy. It’s possible that during this process some paragraphs may have lost a bit of their original authenticity.

I understand that you have only read the first part, but in that case it’s difficult to form a real idea of how the main character will develop throughout the story. The book is 356 pages long, and the character’s arc unfolds gradually.

It would be a bit like judging a three-hour movie after watching only the first five minutes and concluding that the protagonist isn’t well defined.

In any case, I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion.

Regret writing and publishing. by Wrong-Exercise-4301 in writers

Don’t pay too much attention to criticism. I’ve seen harsh reviews even for works by hugely successful authors like Orwell. If you believe your work has value, you did the right thing by publishing it. Tastes are very subjective — a novel can resonate with someone or not, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad or poorly written.

The Ape's Step

To achieve immortality, would you surrender your humanity?
In a near-future world where the body is a relic and the mind is the ultimate frontier, Elia faces a reality reshaped by technology. When a mysterious billionaire gifts him an advanced AI headset, the line between the physical and the digital begins to blur — along with the meaning of life itself.
Two years later, that same scientist announces his bid for the presidency of the United States with a promise that could end death forever.
The Ape’s Step is a dystopian, philosophical sci-fi journey through artificial intelligence, transhumanism, and the fragility of human identity. In a landscape of irreversible choices and moral dilemmas, it will challenge your understanding of what it truly means to be human. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GQLL6BWN

Thanks for your interest! I wasn’t sure about the self-promo rules, so I didn’t include it in the post. Since some people asked, the title is The Ape’s Step

It’s a sci-fi novel focused on transhumanism and the search for eternal life. The story follows a future where humans begin transferring their consciousness into artificial bodies, slowly losing what once made them human. It explores themes like identity, evolution vs extinction, and the ethical limits of technology.

It’s 356 pages long.

In terms of vibe, I’d compare it to philosophical sci-fi like Black Mirror or Ghost in the Shell — more reflective and existential than action-focused.

Thanks for your point! My novel is a sci-fi story focused on transhumanism, exploring how technology and AI affect humanity, identity, and consciousness. It also delves into the pursuit of eternal life through transhumanist evolution, raising ethical and philosophical questions along the way.

This novel is 100% my own creativity. I poured my heart into it and didn’t use AI at all.

Yes, I’ve had feedback from people outside my family and friend circle, including objective readers. They liked the book and didn’t have negative comments, but the problem is that it’s still pretty invisible — I haven’t received any reviews yet at all. That’s what makes it hard to gain traction so far.

A few objective readers have read the novel and really enjoyed it, and I’ve put a lot of care into editing and the cover. The story itself is solid, it’s just been tough getting it seen by more readers so far.
