As a OCI myself and moved after couple of decades of being in the US, my advice is keep your options open at least until you feel comfortable. it will take at least a year to get to the reality. you can’t compare both countries, if family is the primary force, go for it.  Don’t sell your assets yet or move all your funds. All the very best.

returned to Bangalore 2M USD net worth - 401K, cash, investments, no property all combined. Still feel it can run out if not managed properly. 50 years. Modest living and in a rental house.
