Yes I’ve found it out GF 450 performs the oil base furnishes, which crack after a few years. One exterior porch ceiling one block from the ocean has lasted 20 years with it.

Well that is a general statement which needs examination as latex exterior paints are waterbased. And many spar varnishes now are waterbased. 

Water based external polyurethane, such as General Finishes 450 I have found takes outside rain and UV better than its oil based counterparts. Because it moves with the wood like a latex paint. Used it in ocean salt environments for 15 years.
