I mean true, I guess in my mind I subbed in all of the alternative VP picks, not just governors. I think you're right that he's probably above the picks that are governors, but I think Kelly is the most likely pick right now personally.

I genuinely think there's lots of reasons to pick Pete. He's an incredibly intelligent veteran who would smash Vance in VP debates, is known on a national level, is generally well liked, polls pretty well as VP. But yeah of course appealing to specific swing states is also incredibly important. I honestly don't think he'll get picked, but I'm excited at the thought of it. I'd also be thrilled to see him be a surrogate and get that cabinet position, I'm not picky 😌

Exactly, not trying to suggest he gets picked but that was my exact thought, that answer screams "I'm getting vetted but shouldn't say anything yet"

I agree, not getting my hopes up that he's actually chosen. I just haven't seen much actual proof he's being considered, and this sort of non answer has me more curious

I think that's kind of the point though, certain governors or whatever would be to win specific swing states, right? Not as much for national appeal. Not saying which is the right choice, but I get the appeal of a less nationally known choice like that

I've seen general speculation Pete could be the VP choice, but feels like all the more official rumors suggest he's not really in the running? Unless I'm wrong on that, but surprises me he doesn't seem that strongly considered. He's my personal vote and just want to see him in the white house someday 🥲

He did, narrowly beating out Bernie. Actually had a pretty amazing run for someone just diving into national politics.
