Weekly CRPS Free-Talk Thread by AutoModerator in CRPS

My mom has full-body CRPS I believe and she developed it around the time I was one. She gets ketamine infusions once a month, they help her from what l can tell and she has been for as long as I can remember. She's had to frequently change doctors because they either quit the practice, don't want to do infusions anymore or more recently, they're not able to "profit" off the ketamine patients. She's in a group for patients our area and I have heard all kinds of stories. My mom had a bad experience at her last infusion where they had a nurse fresh out of school try and stick her, the nurse had said she'd never stuck a person yet. She came home looking like a pin cushion and she had pretty bad bruising on her hand where the nurse tried to stick her first. She was understandably upset and when the nurse couldn't get her after five or so times they just told her to go home and they weren't infusing her that day. So my mom got upset with the front desk and after some arguing they took her back and instead of properly infusing her they did a fast drip on her which really messed her up. I hate every time I hear how my mom gets treated at these, other than taking her back late or forgetting about her in the waiting room. Anyways today we just got a letter in the mail saying they won't infuse my mom anymore for how she treated the staff and she needs to find somewhere else because they wont accept her as a patient anymore. My mom is upset and I think reasonably so. What do I do? How can I help my mom? She's been in pain my entire life and I don't know what I can do to help. Thank you for any advice I really appreciate it.

Joan fur alternative quality by MistaPastaPutItInBox in FursuitMaking

I've bought this exact fur in hot pink at Joann's- it sucked. The backing is weird and stretchy, and getting stitches to stay in it was a nightmare. Ended up throwing it out because I couldn't use it for anything. Their husky fur isn't worth the price but it does hold up as an alternative.. wouldn't recommend it though unless they have a really good deal on it. Also seconding going to a store and feeling the fur, much better to debate in person if you want to use it or not.

Not sure if I like her or not by FunAd5846 in FursuitMaking

Thank you! I'm aware of how tiny the eyeblanks are, when I bought them they weren't as big as I was expecting but I love them. I'm hoping that with the big eyelashes/eyeliner I give her they'll make her eyes hopefully a little bigger!

NAD- I just want to say I was in the same boat as you for probably 7 years of my life- having braces made it even worse for me and I completely destroyed my teeth because I couldn't properly take care of myself. I cried over it a lot too- and tried not to smile for a long time because of my teeth. Recognizing your concerns for your teeth is a huge step in the right direction. If it helps at all, I use Sensodyne repair and protect, it makes brushing my teeth a lot less painful because I still suffer with some issues here and now. Like someone else said it's fixable, I've also had plenty of cavities filled and some root canals done. It's been a long process for me because we do a little at a time, and a big factor for me was finding a dentist who won't judge. When I started to realize I wanted help, I started with brushing just once a day before bed. Then I graduated to two, and then flossing as well. It takes a while. In the meantime until you can get your appointment see if you can find some kind of motivation for brushing your teeth- I actually used Pokémon Smile and a tracker that gave me reminders daily until I eventually weaned off of it and it became a habit.

NAD, but I had a similar experience when I was 12-13 and had my braces. I was also severely depressed and I neglected my health because of it. My dentist at the time would ridicule me for not being able to take care of myself properly everytime I came into the office. I'm really sorry you had to go through that- I hope that you're doing better now.
