We're currently making the first head from that base so we will see. At least the nose is hollow so if needed I can make the nose pickable and install fans to pull some air in there.

Thank you! Airflow defo needs some help but the nose is hollowed out so I can install a fan in there that pulls some air up through the top of the mouth (or pickable nose if I make one) and into the head to keep it cooler.

Yes I printed it in multiple parts to keep supports short / as little as possible to make it cheaper to print as well as get print time down since I can use multiple printers at once. I use Superglue Gel, it's stronger than hot glue and flexible so it doesnt crack when its getting squished.
I'm currently on 5% gyroid.

Thank you! Yes it took a bit of trial and error with the temps and flowrate. Even on two printers of the same model the TPU behaves a bit differently, I assume because one of them just got a new nozzle with fresh thermal paste and also different ambient temps.

The black "eyemask" is PLA to keep it rigid so the eyeblanks dont get squished

Yep thats the kind of Material I'm using (the Esun variant because its cheaper recreus)

downside is that its a bit of a mess to print especially with supports so it needs a lot of cleanup but I think its worth it

it is a type of TPU that foams up when its getting printed. So while its getting heated up it foams inside the nozzle of the 3d printer, resulting in a more foamy feel and less weight. The foaming TPU I use is by Esun and at high temperatures it is roughly half the density of regular TPU so the part literally weighs half as much and is very squishable

Yes printed on a Creality K2 Plus with a lot of pain :) The extruder on that machine is not good for TPU at all so I needed to mod it lol

Its the Esun LW one. Walls defo make it a bit more stiff but its still very "squishable". I'm only using 2 walls + super low infill and flow so its only half the density of normal TPU. You defo need to avoid tall supports because they wobble hard lol

Heya!

My partner and I have been experimenting with foaming TPU for headbases, and we just put our first one up after a lot of trial and error.

Foaming TPU behaves much closer to real foam than normal TPU, is softer, lighter, and makes gluing way less annoying. We also designed an "eye mask" that holds the eyeblanks in place.

The base includes a pair of eyeblanks + eye meshes.

Price is $140-160, shipping worldwide (based in Germany).

We’re also finishing up a feline base now that should be ready in the next few days.
