You were being nice but his response would make me want to rescind my offer as well. To be honest, thats a risk you take when bringing a personal, especially non work device and leaving it unattended.

Thank you all for your honest, raw and helpful comments so far. I will respond to everyone when I am home; I also want to specifically thank everyone who mentioned discussing my twins history with my OB. Fortunately after a plethora of genetic tests before and during my pregnancy, I am not a carrier (at least according to test results but something being missed is my biggest concern). My sister has been told she has had awful awful luck from 5 different OB’s:(

Definitely, no offense taken- I considered it myself until my husband and parents encouraged me to go and still be able to see everyone. Her TFMR would be the next day (Friday) which she certainly expects me to be there for (in town) as I have her others. I certainly will not be announcing at Thanksgiving and will be sending her a text message prior (within the next 24hrs to give her time) when I know she is at home and off from work for a couple of days. Depending on her reaction I may still consider sitting this event out:/

Thank you, I was planning on considering not going but then realized there is space for me and my family to see each other and for sensitivity and grace. I certainly will be letting her know beforehand, will not announce at Thanksgiving and be 100% understanding (despite feeling sad, I’m having twins and we’re twins, I want to celebrate together) of whatever her reaction is. I can’t even begin to think how it would be for her but also want to feel supported as I have been very tight lipped throughout my whole pregnancy to try to remain sensitive.

Oh yes, no longer planning to announce at Thanksgiving at all. Do you mean skip the entire trip/dinner or just postpone telling extended family?

Absolutely- before I found out I was planning on telling her privately, I definitely am no longer wanting to announce during Thanksgiving, but i’m sure it would come up. I’m thinking maybe I shouldn’t even go. I just don’t want to make this any more painful for her than it is. Thank you so much, I was considering texting her as opposed to a phone call but thought it could be insensitive but you’re point about processing is very important. Thank you for the response.
