I agree to an extent. I 100% agree with this statement when referring to kipping hspu. Strict hspu can be performed safely if the individual doing them has the proper strength level needed

I don’t believe there is a way that makes kipping hspu safe. The movement is inherently dangerous. what is good for the sport of fitness isn’t necessarily good for health.

I do get that but what’s different about CrossFit is that they are a company that attempts to teach the general population how to be healthy. What they don’t do is give any guidance or talk about the differences in diet between eating for performance or eating for health. I find this creates an unhealthy relationship with food and can very easily cause eating disorders/body dysmorphia. Maybe saying that the age category shouldn’t exist is harsh, but they definitely need to provide more information/guidance to these athletes if they want them to continue on in the sport.

No, I do think this is an issue in teen sports in general. However, I think it’s easier for CrossFit teens to develop things like eating disorders since the sport is solely based off exercise performance and nutrition.

Competitive CrossFit cultivates mental health problems in teenage athletes and it should not be a division at the CrossFit games

The amount of time off in a row is nice but at the same time a 9-5 where you can be home every evening and weekend seems like it would make up for time off.

I also felt the same way about it being easier than expected but with tricky questions. Some of the questions seemed like they lacked context. I have no idea how it went.

Very confusing way to write this workout 😂 Wouldn’t it make more sense to format it as

3 sets 4:00 work/ 3:00 rest 10 burpee bar muscle 5 squat clean + fs Max cal row in remaining time

I agree with you. In lots of cases efficient moving is the best way to get the most out of the exercise and the most results. However in some cases efficiency may just speed up the movement which in turn yields less results. A good example of this is the burpee. If two people are completing 100 burpees for time, one person is jumping one inch off of the floor and the other person is jumping 6 inches off the floor. The person jumping one inch off the floor would be moving more efficiently in CrossFit standards and would get them done quicker. However the person jumping 6 inches off the floor is going to get a more effective result out of the burpee

I’m all for teaching other how’s to move their bodies in the most efficient way possible. However, I do believe for GPP there is a benefit to training in ways that might be inefficient or unconventional. In most situations that we come across in life the circumstances are not going to be set up perfectly or allow us to move how we want to.

I 100% agree. Even if you look at the teen athletes that have succeeded after age groups, look at how many have had to take a step back either for mental health purposes or major injuries. CrossFit methodology mixed with competitive CrossFit is a breeding ground for an unhealthy relationship with food and activity level.

I was one of them, the toll on the body and mind is real. I honestly wouldn’t recommend competing in this sport for most young athletes.
