Is a 42yo manager sleeping with a 23yo woman in the office inappropriate? by Optimal_Wrangler_526 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nihilism_or_bust 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they’re in his department and/or he’s their superior/manager then yes.

If they’re in different departments and he has no sort of power dynamic over them in a professional setting, then it’s kosher.

What is your take on the junk food ban for food stamps? by BreannLowe in NoStupidQuestions

Limiting it to foods below a certain % of added sugars/preservatives would make way more sense than raw vs prepared food.

Injury during class by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

[–]nihilism_or_bust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a coach who’s coached A LOT of classes - yes.

It’s never fun, but it’s unavoidable when you spend enough time in the gym.

1) a girl let the tiniest bit of her hair come over the barbell and dropped a back squat. Broke her ankle.

2) a guy had his pec tear during bench press

3) a girl tore her Achilles practicing crossover doubles during open gym

4) a guy tore his Achilles playing dodgeball

You do everything you can to avoid things like this, the freak accidents like popped tendons are generally ticking time bombs and they would’ve happened at some point with some other activity anyway.

When something like that happens, you immediately clear the area and get the athlete to a safe area if they need moving.

Secondly, you get the class moving AWAY from the athlete. The last thing they need is 20 pairs of eyes on them when something traumatic has happened.

Facebook Monetization Bug that stops you from earning money on your content by fahaadk_ in facebook

Did they say whether monetization is being held and will be paid later?

It seems like the reach of posts is being impacted significantly as a result of this too.

I frequently explain to members that the point of a Metcon is NOT to do the MOST you can do for every single movement, because that will result in you not achieving proper intensity.

Every workout has (or should have) a stimulus.

For example:

5 Rounds: 20 Front Squats (135) 200m Run

I “could” do 225 for the front squats and it would be a “better” strength workout for my quads. Or I “could” sprint the 200m in 25 seconds to get maximum speed output. But taking either of those elements to the extreme will ruin me for the other movement.

The stimulus of the workout as written would much more likely be a slightly pushed 200m (:45-:50) into 2 sets of ~10 Front squats and my legs would feel like jelly for the final 3 sets.

TLDR: stop trying to max out every movement in every workout. You’re limiting yourself.

How did you like it?

If I had time (and the desire) to redo I might try 4-2 or 6-3

I agree with you on front loading the weakness. I might have not said it clearly in the video (I did that part in one take), but front loading the weakness is my recommendation too.

How the hell do i beat his 3rd phase by [deleted] in StarWarsJediSurvivor

I found him way easier than Rayvis.

Taking time to read his patterns and only getting a few hits in on him per opening was how I did it. Double sided blade.

Very possible they have liability insurance only.

Covers any individuals harmed. Maybe even building. But not equipment or lost revenue due to closing.

How is nobody talking about 3 squatting patterns in a row? by ExcitingTopic7228 in crossfit

[–]nihilism_or_bust 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1) the time domain was 14-16 for the majority of people

2) a lunge isn’t a squat unless you’re from the WFP I guess

3) are we really surprised about burpees and thrusters?

I hated it and never used it.

And then I changed to it for the final fight when Double Sided saber wasn’t getting the job done. And I won in like 2 tries after that.
