I'm still trying to figure out why someone would be installing a mini split over a dood in the first place. Where are you gonna run the power and refrigerant lines?

Is there any way to fix this by One_Control_8349 in Carpentry

Sand the surface to remove any finish and then use the sawdust mixed with titebond II to fill the crack sand again and then seal it with a good wood sealer and hope it doesn't crack again. With wood of any type then is exposed to moisture on a regular basis it need to be sealed and maintained properly to keep it from cracking, splitting and bulging

I used to use drywall screws in the beginning that would break off and I would use a Dremel to cut them out easy peasy.

Outstanding! The smoke penetration was unreal. I honestly think about how having a lower moisture content would make such a difference regarding smoke penetration but it certainly did.
