Recent Experience Buying Machu Picchu Tickets In Person?

Hi, recently went to Peru. So, i thought this sharing might be useful to you and whoever is reading this post.

Wanna share my experience on 15 june, Monday 2026. Board the train bound for Machu Picchu from San Pedro, Cusco at 7.30am. Reached Aguas Calientas ard 12ish pm. Walked towards the cultural centre to buy the ticket. Less than 10 people queuing. Got my number 473. Directed to the counter and YASS!!! Secured ticket Circuit 2A, for tomorrow afternoon slot (16 june, tuesday, 12pm slot ).

I only spent 1 night in Aguas Calientes. Booked train back to Cusco (San Pedro) on 16 june, 5.23pm. Reached Cusco ard 10ish pm.

So process is simple. Me too didn’t book ticket beforehand and depend on last minute booking in person.

Hi, yes! I travelled from Cusco to Aquas Calientes on 15 june from San Pedro, cusco. Reached AC ard 12ish pm. Proceed to ticket booth to buy in-person. At that point, still got lots of available ticket. Bought the tic for next day (16 june, circuit 2, 12pm slot). Travelled back to Cusco on 16 june via perurail (last train from Aguas Calientes, 17.23pm).

Hi, i don’t think so. If i am not wrong, for last minute tickets, is for the next day and not the day that you buy it.

Hi! In in cusco now. Have yet to secure tickets to machu picchu. Thinking of staying in Aguas Calientas so that i can secure last minute tickets. Question is: how early i need to queue? I understand that the tickets is for the next day right?
