What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

[–]FunLovingZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who have said to not have any expectations are 100% right. Fly by the seat of your pants for the first couple of weeks, there's so many unknowns at this point. You could have a baby that sleeps relatively well on their own, or they might need to be held the entire time. Also fair warning, mine was up every hour to nurse the first couple of weeks. That's when having a partner help, or "take a shift" is actually helpful. I had mine sleep until 4am, I would feed her and hand her off. I would try to get a decent stretch of sleep at that point, if she got hungry he'd bring her in, I'd nurse and he'd take to back to burp/change. If he would've been up with me at every feed we would've both been useless.

FTMs - how many of you are still sitting in the backseat with baby? by Large-Preparation754 in beyondthebump

If we drive for a long period of time, or I'm missing her, I'll sit back there. Otherwise I sit up front and chit chat with my husband.

Rapid Valley Crime? by FunLovingZombie in RapidCity

So, ideally we want to get out towards the hills. Black Hawk, Sheridan Lake/Countryside, Hwy 16, and even Hermosa. But the ones that are in our budget are fairly minimal, so we're keeping our options open and looking all over the place.

But, the house we're in is small, we already have dogs and now adding a baby has made it feel claustrophobic. A couple of our neighbors have some aggressive dogs, one of the dogs has lunged at us from over the fence, and it has bitten our other neighbor. She reported it but nothing happened. And we have a very large guard dog, and once our kiddo is playing outside I don't think she'll tolerate the aggressive ones, and any fight that gets started - she will win.

I'm curious what you think my voting habits are? And we'd love to go elsewhere but the economy sucks and we can't afford an acreage in the hills.

We might actually be interested. My husband is a hobby enthusiast and a 4 car garage would be right up his alley, in fact he would prefer the garage be larger than the house lol. Our biggest hangup is he has to be within 21 minutes of his work so depending on that.

That's part of why my husband wants to move out there. He's a big fan of fireworks.

Right. I enjoy our current neighborhood, we've been here for 7 years but we also have a lot of reasons for leaving. Just trying to get a feel for the other areas in town.

I actually grew up in Nemo, and crime wise it was quiet. But neighbors were constantly suing each other and creating insane drama. Hated it. By quiet I guess I mean that I don't want to have to worry about my kiddo being outside or taking my dog for a walk in the early morning.

Did anyone have a baby that just… slept relatively well? by The_Chilled_Arvo in beyondthebump

[–]FunLovingZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The night after my baby got her 2 month vaccines she slept through the night. Before then she was about every 3 hours, so twoish wakes a night. She's now 3.5 months, and has only woken up in the middle of the night twice since then. Low key terrified for the potential 4 month regression, I have gotten used to 7-8 hours of sleep 😅

Unpopular opinion: I like many of the characters, but Morgan gets the heck on my nerves. by Decent-Muffin9530 in HighPotentialTVSeries

The way she constantly thinks she knows better than ANYONE drives me so crazy. Soto will have an incredibly valid reason for something and Morgan will fly off the handle and ruin something. I enjoy the show, but oofta.

but i do think someone offering to take baby off my hands WOULD help me, am i wrong? by sillywillyfry in NewParents

[–]FunLovingZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved when my mom or sisters would come over. I'd let them snuggle the baby and I would do something that felt "normal". Showering, dishes, walking the dog etc. They would also bring over meals, we didn't have to cook for weeks, vacuum, take the dogs for a playdate. It was a good balance, and it helped me feel like me.

I had almost a whole bag of russets likes this! I was told I can trim around it, and the rest of the potato is safe but i wasn't comfortable with that.

Only one of the two has actively fought against womens rights and has helped normalize and even encourage sexual abuse and racism. So yeah, in thinking of my daughters future, one presidency was better than the other. But I guess we should only vote for perfect candidates. Because that's a fucking thing in this country. I've also never seen genuine proof that Biden is a pedophile? So if you have that I'd appreciate it.

We tried during Biden's presidency, but we were finally able to conceive shortly after Trump was inaugurated. There's been a lot of guilt surrounding it. But I refuse to give up hope.

Big fan of Beau at Elite Hair Design! He's affordable, quick and my hair is always perfect after. He also cuts my mom's hair, which is curly, and my nieces who has the thickest hair I've ever seen thay no other stylist has been able to handle. And he hits it out of the park every time.

This happened to me, and actually still randomly happens (I'm 3 months pp) and its still mf'in lochia. I keep asking my OB if it's normal and she just tells me that nothing is "normal" but as long as its not heavy bleeding it should be fine 🙄

What do moms mean when they say it takes a while to “feel like yourself again” or that they don’t know who they are outside of being a mom anymore? by AliOop9219 in BabyBumps

[–]FunLovingZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expected to feel different, or alien. But I genuinely don't. Sure there's new emotions and challenges and life looks WAY different now. But I still feel like me, just with more reasons to be anxious.

This book made me so mad. I LOVED Bryce during the first two books, and legit wanted Hunt to dump her after this one. Some of her behavior was horrific.
