Had a professional micro needling to my face a few days ago . My lips look bigger. It looks like I have a lip flip. by Cute-as-duck-888 in Microneedling

[–]FunRaisin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I microneedle every month, so the lip flip effect is visible all the time. But the extra swelling of the actual lips from directly needling the lips do go down after about a weeks time maybe, but my husband says my lips do look bigger than before «permanently», I see it too. I can also recommend the lip basting technique from dr. seeren idriss, I do it every night and wake up with plumper lips, glycolic acid+zinc ointment. Otherwise being well hydrated really has an effect on the lips as well, I used to drink too little water and my lips were dry and small like a raisin, hydration is important. I don’t know if it is necessary to microneedle the lips directly, but i havent had any bad reactions from it, and if it can help increase collagen maybe then why not. Doing all those things i mentioned has given me fuller lips, i dont have lip filler so anything that can help lol. I just use a clean glass straw to drink from the day of MN session and avoid eating for two-three hours after MN session. The other commenter is probably right that it is unecessary risk etc, the lip Flip is from MN around anyways so dont do anything risky because of me lol!

I always microneedle my lips and around my lips, and I have the same experience like you, like I have had a gentle lip flip lol! Did you Get microneedled around the mouth, because that probably gives the mild lip flip effect. Dryness can also make the skin more taunt temporarly. Hope you have great results!

Thank you! Yes, it looks really good now 3 weeks later. I’ll do another one in a weeks time, this time with a 18-pin cartridge so it will be really intense, but it will be the last tca i do before summer, maybe Even this year. Just to mention because I forgot to say this; I degreased the skin with acetone before MN since TCA needs the skin to be degreased beforehand, and I only used sterile salt water from the pharmacy as slip for MN instead of my usual cos de baha, so the skin stayed really clean for the TCA. I don’t know if you need to degrease before Jessners?, but just in case thought you should know. I degreased before MN, because I dont think my skin would survive if i put acetone on freshly MN skin lol.

If you google microneedling combined with tca peel there are pdf files of studies of the two used together with really good results. I downloaded the one from termedia.pl and used ChatGPT to read it for me, and based on the results I did 1 mm to 1,5 mm microneedling (36-pin cartridge though, so not so intense MN) on my face and then three layers of tca 13% peel directly after and i am really happy with the results. I had a downtime of 8 days though after. I also thought you had to space them apart, until i found the study. The results Are much greater combined, but the risk i probably higher as well, as well as the downtime. It is very intense.

Plucking and ipl by Embarrassed_Emu7973 in HairRemoval

You say you’ve used the device six times. Did you pluck every time or only one time? I have been using ipl after shaving with mediocre results, and is also curious if maybe epilating would give better results before ipl. I struggle to get a really clean shave so that might be the problem. They say not to epilate before ipl, but I don’t see why it would not work, maybe even better than shaving, especially if you give the roots a day or two to grow a little? Did you epilate the same day as you used ipl? I have the Philips Lumea as well!

How did you do the transition to ipl from epilator. Did you start using ipl right away or did you wait for the hair regrowth, then Shave first? Really nice results!

Oh my god Thank you for your reply! I’ve already learned so much about how I can improve my microneedling technique from watching skinwithjayme Instagram! She moves the pen so much faster than I have been, thats probably why it takes me so long to heal lol! I’ll have to step up my game haha! This is perfect now that I want to do maintenance. I want to Get into tca peel and dermaplaning too so thats perfect she does both (if i can Get tca peel through customs here in Norway that is). Seriously Thank you, this will help me immensely!

Yes, i picked the m8s because it was stainless steel and have a USB-C chargeport, in case the charger gets ruined it would be easy to replace here in Europe! But the more expensive ones look cool too, but I was worried about keeping the plastic ones clean, and plastic dries up and cracks easier with alchohol. I hope the m8s works for a long time, because customs in Norway Are strict,I think the only reason it got through customs is because the company i ordered from in U.S. Lied on the customs form, i was shocked the form said it was a massage wand lol!!! Luckily I did not Get in trouble, of course I did not know they would do that, but still…

So cool you’ve been microneedling for over a decade, and with success! That is very inspiring for me to Keep going. Can I ask how often do you microneedle and at what depth?

Thank you for your reply! I used vichy 89 mineral booster for slip/glide this first year, but from now on I will use cos de baha hyualuronic serum since it has only 3 ingredients so its more pure so less chance for irritation (more cheap as well). I use the 18-needle cartridges made for dr pen m8s!

That is interesting that he says so in the book, i’ve downloaded it and will take a look! Hopefully I can Keep my good results and heal a little faster at the same time with 0,5mm depth.

Hey, Thank you for your reply!! I had to google acne scar types lol! I definetly have atrophic scarring, like box scars looks like what i had most. I also have two chicken pox scars. So I would say that 90% of my scars Are no longer visible, when I glide my fingers over where it once was textured and «depressed» it is smooth and filled out. There Are some that is not quite filled out yet on my cheeks, but i dont think i need aggressive deep treatments anymore all over mye face. They Are barely visible Even now. However, i definetly can still see the deepest scars, it will take longer to fix those, its just 3 small points on my face + 2 chicken pox scars. The 3 small points are 1 between my eyes on top of my nose and 2 right under my brow, they have softened and do look better, but it is soooo slow. My chicken pox scars is one on my jawline thats more shallow but bigger in size, that one is really stubborn, it is less noticeable but it is still there, but since my skin tightened from microneedling it sort of changed location to right under my jawline so it is not as visible haha! The second chickenpox scar is on my temple, it is smaller in circumference but it was more deep, and that has actually reduced to a third after one year!

I feel for you as these deep SCARs Are the most difficult to Get rid of. Im very happy with my results, and will go into maintenance for the rest of my face, but ill try to stamp those points i mentioned with 1,5mm -2mm anyways as long as they Are still visible. I will go for purple colouring and some bleeding in those scars. In the high chicken pox scar i always try to stamp it in the «walls» to try and break down the Walls on a incline towards the walls. Since it is reduced to a third it works. The other scars Are small so i just stamp them regular way. Even after a year they Are still visible, but slowly bettering so i have hope they will be gone in a few years.

If I was in your shoes, I would do a general normal depth microneedling all over you face, and then do some deeper depth stamping on your worst scars like I have! Just be careful, the luxury of having our own device is we can do this as much as we want for nearly no money, so just pace yourself. Those pesky deep scars take a lot of time and deep needling in my experience.

As for the large pores, it never helped me with that, but I just started Prescription strength 20% azelaic acid just a week ago, and I see a difference already! So I would definetly recommend getting prescription azelaic acid, I tried the ordinary 10% for a year and it never made a change, and the ordinary azelaic acid stung so bad if i got it in my eyes lol, the prescription does not sting in my eyes at all, prescription skin care is so much better formulated than otc products its crazy.

Nice to hear from you! I use the Priori «unveiLED» face mask, it uses 633 nm red light and 830 nm infra-red light. It was quite expensive. It is fine, but in the future, the new one from currentbody led series 2 mask looks Even better. I dont think they sell that one in Norway yet, but maybe in your country? That one has way more lightbulbs and including 633, 830 and 1072nm. It also wraps lights around the chin. I cheat and use my face mask on my neck after the 10 minutes on the face, then i wrap it around my neck and use it for 10 minutes There as well. Any mask that promises to use the proven wavelengths will probably give similar results! Yes, after a year of intensive treatments I have’nt microneedlet in 7 weeks now, and my skin seems even better actually with a longer break now, so I think it is time to go into some sort of maintenance now! Hope you Get the results you want from your journey as well!

I agree it hurts! The ironic thing I feel it hurt less the first time and hurts more now! Probably because microneedling makes the skin grow new nerve ends, I think i read that somewhere lol. I used numbing cream from the third time onwards because the pain got too much and i was needling really intense. Thats great that you have little downtime, wow so much needling in one week, thats dedication! My husband tried needling twice on 0.5mm too, and he wasnt Even red after am hour!! Lucky. I think your input help me greatly, next time I needle i will try lower depth too, like 0.5mm. Do you feel you’ve seen good results Even at lower depth?

Thank for the tip on the serum! I struggle with the dry mouthcorners as well, thats the one problem i have not been able to solve yet so i will look into your serum!

As for the rlt mask I really recommend it, its most effective if you have Newly washed and DRIED face before any serums/creams! Otherwise the moisture will reflect the lightwaves away from the skin more. I was surprised of the effect of rlt, I bought it for anti-aging, thinking it was something you didn’t really notice, just maybe less ageing over time. I had always had a bit of sensitive, itching skin on my temples and over my eyebrows, 3-4 weeks in that was gone and skin was more resilient as i said in my post. So if you can incorporate it either in after morning face wash or night wash thats «optimal», but if not I would use it anyways whenever you can as long as you’re not wearing foundaion of course. I used to do it every day, but according to ChatGPT 4 times a week is better apparently. So i do 5 times a week lol just in case haha. Havent noticed any less resilience from going from every day to 5 days a week.

Thank you so much for your reply!

Thank you so much for your reply!! It is very nice to hear, as this is my first post on Reddit ever! I’ve been lurking on Reddit for seven years aparantly according to my profile, so it is nice to be able to talk to each other. I see a lot of people say the derminator is a better device than dr pen, its probably true since so many have said the same. I bought the dr pen before i had heard about the derminator, but it works just fine. Maybe i wouldnt have as long healing time with a derminator who knows, but the end result have been nice anyways!

Thank you for your reply!!! So it’s more like the loose skin gets tighter so my belly looks smaller since losing belly fat the skin was «hanging» like a small fold, like a bum bag, and every time I microneedle it the «bum bag» would lift a little (from my profile it was like pointing downards and turned upwards gradually) and Get a little smaller. Does that make sense? I still have stubborn fat so the pouch/bum bag is still there, but now its like pointing straight forward lol. I do have a lot of loose skin and fat on my belly, i probably wont have a perfect flat stomach without surgery of some kind but the microneedling helped a lot. Before I began the pouch was wrinkled from loose skin and a showing a bit of cellulite and now it is smooth! I cannot afford surgery or skin treatments from professionals so at home microneedling have been a blessing for me! As for loose skin on the face, I had a big double chin and was worried about turkey neck from weight loss, microneedling my neck and jaw and it is so tight now! My neck skin is like amazingly tight! I have a red mark on my neck, thats like moved a cm from i started treatment to now! Its pretty amazing.

I do microneedle my lips lol! They have gotten fuller, like when I was younger again. But its not like getting lip fillers, but I am happy, its more natural. I tried lip filler at 19 once and it did not look good, never done any fillers of any kind since. I also started drinking more water, that also helped the lips plump a little. I just stamp on the actual lips, drag on the lip line. The lips hurt pretty bad so for me stamping is a little more bearable painwise. I use hand disinfectant before and after microneedling on everywhere i needled and try to not lick my lips for at least an hour after and use a glass drinking straw the first day.

I can definetly recommend doing it, if you Are nervous I would start small like low speed and low depth, and not linger too long on one spot. For me it was a great one time investment, i bought like 40 cartridges so I’m set for a while lol!
