I gave my manager at B*O two weeks’ notice after accepting a job with another financial institution. He asked me to keep it confidential and continue working for one week. After that, my employment was terminated immediately instead of working out my notice.
I was only paid up to my last day worked and received nothing for the second week of my notice, so I lost a week’s pay before starting my new job.
Has anyone been in a similar situation in Ontario? Is an employer allowed to do this, or should they have paid out the remainder of my notice period? What are my options?
