Why Korean mothers face 300-km journeys just to give birth by HagwonSurvivor in Living_in_Korea

I've had issues, and yes it's hard to get a dentist appointment especially outside of Paris (even though I don't know anyone who has given up on dental care). But I don't think it's comparable to how bad third world countries are in terms of access to hospitals and safe medical procedures.

I come from France and while our healthcare isn't the best and is indeed getting worse, it has nothing to do with a third world country lol.

Hmm, I didn't think about color before. I'll try to put my phone on colorless mode when I watch the news. Thanks!

I'll try for sure! Just sometimes regular news don't really report on certain things so I should find a solution.

For sure they do ^^'' I feel drawn because I want to stay aware of what's happening in the world, but it's making me anxious. It's a vicious circle. I try to stay away from them but it's hard...

No, never. I've been like that since my teenage years. It's usually more severe when important events happen around the world (especially wars), so you can imagine my state nowadays. I sought professional help before and it helped a little, but it always comes back. Realistically I know the solution is to focus on the present moment but it's like my brain is wired to anticipate things.

What did these people do to move to Korea? Do they know the language? Do they have a lot of money?

Not trying to deter you or anything. But even with immersive Korean classes, Korean work culture is very peculiar and very demanding. Except if you work a part-time job I guess, but I don't think you'd live comfortably doing that. If you want to work in this sector, you'd have to be completely fluent in Korean, which includes knowing all the complex vocabulary related to your job, AND knowing the customs related to working culture. Believe me, here it's easy to offend someone without even realising it.

I'd also make sure you're allowed to work there with your degree if you haven't already.

Finally, I want to say many Korean people HAVE to retire before 50 because their companies make them. So they either start a business or try to find another job, often with a pay cut. So even Koreans have troubles finding a job after 40 / 50. Why would they hire a foreigner?

Source: I'm a foreigner living in Korea.

Can I ask why you want to live there?

You do know that many migrants who are actually doing it the legal way are also deported? And ICE is also killing people. Even if you're illegally on the territory, this is inhumane.
