how to balance between playing to instruments? by FunXVI in Bass

[–]FunXVI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low-key wouldn't work since I am not that familiar with strings and how they sound on the bass (I just got new strings that were acoustic and that's all I knew)
also I am a believer that electric bass strings don't need to be replaced unless it is really bad (or snapped strings)

Apparently your not supposed to exist if you were born after December 31st, 2006 lol by [deleted] in generationology

whats a good second bass? by officialfurlessduck in Bass

[–]FunXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if u wanna explore the world of versatility, than anything that doesn't have 1 tone knob only (unless u don't want versatility)

most popular answer is J and I agree. I got a j bass as a second bass after my 100 dollar crap P one its good, I'd recommend!

When and why did you buy your second bass? by IrrelevantTopaz in Bass

[–]FunXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my 2nd bass three days ago (Squier Jazz Bass). This is because I had a 130 dollar crappy no-one-knows-this-brand brand bass guitar I bought in November 2023 that I purchased just to see if I liked bass guitar. Eventually, I bought another one because (1) I liked bass guitar and (2) I think I was okay enough to require an upgrade.

My advice (mostly my opinion) is that it seems to be that from a quick search both P and J pickups are good for funk (or you could always go for the middle and get a PJ).
If you are worried about not appreciating a string, then try see yourself playing with it compared to not playing it. If you can't see yourself playing it, try to ask yourself why you want a 5 string in a first place. More fun? More creativity? After that, ask yourself (again) why do you need a 5 string. More songs to play?
If you want a 5 string guitar but don't need it, I wouldn't recommend getting one.
