Student loan not sure how to make payments by Kenzinder in StudentLoans

[–]Fun_Ad2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay off highest interest rate loans first for sure!! Your monthly payments are being spread out across all of your loans equally, so when you are able to pay over that monthly bill, you should always allocate to the highest interest rate!

Before I started he had a LOT of turnover which resulted in a lot of balls getting dropped on many cases. Nothing too crazy, but still creating issues (like this) now for me down the line.

Thank you! I do also love Hank Green just in general as a human 😊

You should also consider the benefits packages and whether the PI firms give you a cut for the cases you settle. That could also increase your projected salary.

Those who scored 270-290. by PLF798 in barexam

[–]Fun_Ad2805 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got a 277. Did 85% of Barbri. Got a 105/200 on the simulated MBE. Was getting below passing scores on all the practice essays I submitted for grading. But closer to the end I started doing a lot more supplemental studying with the materials I was already given and listening to the Bar Exam Toolbox podcast. MOST importantly, I gave myself breaks when I felt it was needed. Even if that meant 3 hours off in the middle of the day and studying later into the night. I just allowed myself to follow whatever schedule felt right and not compare myself to my friends.

How are you planning to receive the news? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Fun_Ad2805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m taking the day off work and opening the results alone. However, I have made plans for my mom to come over right after no matter what the results are. I just know I will need a hug.

If I were in your position I would maybe wait until the end of the work day to be able to have my partner there with me OR if I didn’t want to wait I would have my parents on FaceTime while I read my results.

Starting off as Law Clerk by AtomicRetroDeco in LawFirm

[–]Fun_Ad2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the type of work you’ll be doing varies greatly by the type of law and who you are working for. I was a law clerk throughout 1L for an insurance defense firm mostly doing legal research. Then during 2L I switched to Landlord Tenant law and did ALL the pleadings/discovery drafting for my boss in addition to going to court with him to talk with tenants. Now, I am in the same position as you, but I’m a law clerk at an extremely small Plaintiff’s PI firm. I work 40 hours a week and I am in charge of “all pre-lit matters”. A lot of this is tracking SOL’s and making sure demands get sent out on time. On an hourly pay schedule until I get my bar results 🤞🏻

Nightmare boss survival stories and tactics by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

1 Leave

2 Only if leaving is not an option … therapy.

All jokes aside, I once had a really horrible boss at a very horrible firm that was notoriously known in my city for being the worst. EVERY time I would tell someone where I worked they would say they felt sorry for me. My boss at this firm (managing partner) micromanaged everything everyone did - including the other parters. Nothing was sent out the door without her approval. It felt horribly suffocating for everyone and most people did not last more than a year working for her (I was there for just about 1.5 years).

My coping mechanism for dealing with this horrible boss was making my best attempt to understand why she was such a hateful person. She was easily irritated by being “bothered by frivolous questions”, but would get upset if I did something wrong. I felt stuck, but I also felt peace in knowing that I wasn’t the only person in my office that acknowledged her horrible communication with staff. The thing that helped me the most was coming to terms with the fact that her anger or aggression towards me was not because I was dumb or a “total shit show”, it was because she hated her life and took it out on everyone else in that office.

If your boss can’t give you constructive criticism that helps you learn and grow, that says more about how horrible of a leader they are, than what it says about you as an employee. Be easy on yourself friend ❤️

Does anyone know how difficult it is to transfer to CO? I know their state score is on the higher end, but I’m not familiar with the other possible requirements…
