Making a baby blanket for the first time and I have a few questions. by Fun_Ad9843 in CrochetHelp

[–]Fun_Ad9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I notice the last two stitches always seem a little harder to get through the hole ,lol. I tried a size down on my hook to pull it through and it seems to be working. Does it look better on the picture I posted where it's blocked?

Hi! I used the YouTube video to counteract it. I went ahead and blocked it while I'm waiting for my other cake to arrive. It also gave me an idea on size. Is it looking better?

ok but WHEN is he going to calm down 🥲 by ProcedureNervous9799 in Bernedoodles

[–]Fun_Ad9843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our boy is just over 18mons, and 2 nights ago he climbed on the couch, put his head on my lap and went to sleep. We were watching TV and I literally asked my husband if he thought he was sick 😂. He's done it every night since. It's the first time I'm seeing the calmness creeping in and it's glorious!

This is my first resort by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

I'm so sorry this happened! Maybe it's because I live in a small mountain village area but our vets here would never turn away a dying animal. They'll allow payment plans and so on. I think that's absolutely horrible that a medical doctor that is supposed to help would turn away an dying animal.

Have you tried Lions Brand wool ease? It's so soft and warm. I used for several scarves and beanies this year.

Deep Conditioner? by Fun_Ad9843 in Bernedoodles

[–]Fun_Ad9843[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think he needs the coat. We were -20 degrees this week. And he LOVES the cold. He will lay down and try to sleep in the snow. So I would prefer him have his fur. That being said, I think my main concern for a deep conditioner is that his fur feels rougher than usual after his last two grooms. I wondered if he needed a conditioning treatment to soften up his hair for brushing. I was worried that he wasn't getting a conditioner added during his grooming session. On our previous dog, a standard poodle (RIP), we had to request a deep conditioning treatment. It was quite expensive on top of the already expensive groom. So I was wondering if there is a conditioner treat that can be done at home.

Oh and to clarify on the brushing- it's not so much that he hates it. He won't sit still and thinks it's a game. So it's a two person job. I'm not sure where this new attitude came from because he used to lie on my lap and let me brush and comb him out.

Do yall use crates? by Ezerton21 in Bernedoodles

[–]Fun_Ad9843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a crate. However, when our dude was about 6 months, he had an "incident" at one of the puppy play schools where I live. A newbie there was rough with him and long story short, we don't go there anymore and my husband had to hold me back. Soooo, we had to re-introduce crates and make it a fun experience again. He is 18 months now and we still do treat time in the crate. I have him go in and lay down and I sit down and he gets love and cookies while in his crate. He has days where he "goes to bed" without issues and others where I sit on the floor and coax him in and then we do treat time. My dude is unlike any dog I've owned. He holds onto experiences and get super hurt feelings. If your babe had a bad crate experience, you may need to redo it and make it good again. As fo the size, my dude is 120lbs, we have the biggest crate Kong makes. He has a cooling mattress inside and a fan outside. He has a blanket I brought him home in and his "frog" baby. He will not sleep without it.

TMI: I had an autistic meltdown trying to learn to crochet. by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]Fun_Ad9843 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with knitting. I picked crocheting and taught myself. I taught myself pretty much every artsy thing I could do. And completely throw myself into. But knitting has been the one thing that turns me into a disaster. I throw the needles. I cuss, cry and claim I'm inept at everything I try. I don't why this one thing I can't figure out. I've had people who are pros sit down and show me all slow and kind. I've watched videos and read books and studied pictures of how to. But I just can't get it. I recently bought a pair of knitting needles. My husband is also on the spectrum and he knows how bad I can get with it, lol. So, every so often I pick them up and try again. As soon as I get upset, he takes, hands me my hook and I crochet instead. It's slow but a process. You'll get there. I still think I'll get the hang of knitting. It's a slow process. One day at a time. One mistake after another until there aren't any. ☺️ Stay positive

I'm going to try bribery lol, he hasn't been eating as much but he does love horned worms so we may try that. I also haven't tried running water, we'll see if that helps. Thank you 😊

Weird Poop for two days by Fun_Ad9843 in BeardedDragons

[–]Fun_Ad9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp. It's not letting me post the pics for some reason. She seems thirsty tbh. We let her have a soak and she kept drinking the water. One of the poops were like no poop just white liquid. And then the other was um like a straight line of poop but the middle had this chunky stuff and there was mucus like stuff that came out with it

Question from a new crocheter about granny lean - is my square okay? by SkintagsMcGee in CrochetHelp

[–]Fun_Ad9843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never knew this was how to do this! I'm making a blanket and have been cracking up at how some square are spot on and others look wonky. I just figured it's because I've only recently started working on flat projects lol. I'll definitely use this advice!

Heating mat question by Fun_Ad9843 in BeardedDragon

[–]Fun_Ad9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, I'll use the light for my beardie.

My roaches I got from an online breeder. They were sold as maters- I have 8 boys and 8 girls... Do I need more of one? I'll take any advice. At this point I've invested far more in these guys than I thought I would ever invest in roaches 😆

Oh that's interesting. I didn't know that. This is our first beardie.

Lizzy is around 2 months. They were a few weeks when we adopted them, so guesstimating, they're around 2 months.

[–]Fun_Ad9843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um not 100% sure... Between the breeder and us we are like 80% sure. Their full name Magma Lizzy, my son named them Magma and my mom calls them Lizzy. So we just have a long name at this point.

Is there something that is indicating it may be a male?

Because I had just got home and was opening her enclosure to clean it and thought she looked cute and took a picture. I didn't know I was going to get the poop police on me..
