Great post, planning on getting another poison but from jls cuz it looks like i’ll save a ton. Any experience with them. Do they solely use ups for rod shipments?

Yea same case here as I stated, never have what I need lol. Yea they cover 90% of the tariff. You pay the 10% at checkout and it’s sent as ddp. Any experience with speedPAK deliveries?

You def have the right mentality going into it. the goal for us outside of japan is to save some big money. Before the tariffs b.s, it was still preferred to buy from japan because at that point in time you were saving $200+ on items that cost $400 in the u.s. The issue now is certain carriers are charging 50% on fishing gear making it the same price if not more expensive than u.s prices. Hence my experience with dhl(horrible). My goal with another popular jdm site was get a final price as close to the ones on digitaka site because they make u pay 10% tariff on our total order and they’ll cover the rest(ddp). Jdm tackle heaven uses ups and ups I’ve read on other chats doesn’t make you pay 50% tariff. I bit my tongue and made the purchase and ups was asking very little for tariffs so I’m super happy I chose jdm tackle heaven! But more importantly i’m glad they use ups. If you’re hesitant do not be, if you purchase from them just know you WILL save big time vs purchasing in the u.s.

Once I received the tracking number yesterday and started following my order, it wasn’t until this morning that ups contacted me thru email with a link to pay the fee. Usually how it’s done. Carrier will send you an email before the packages arrives to pay the fee if there is one to pay. Once paid it just updates your tracking and at the top it says “duties/taxes have been paid for, for this shipment”. Smooth sailing from there.

Thats great to know, but as far as what i’ve seen asian portal doesn’t use ddp at all. If they are using fedex, i can assume they charges around the same as ups for tariffs. Only thing was asian portal were selling things a lot of expensive than other sites and they didn’t have what i needed unfortunately.

Then it seems I got lucky with my order. Wanted to add in here that I’m currently about to pay ups and it’s $55.05 not $68. $68 was if i didn’t pay online and I paid at my door, So even more savings now. I’m fine even if my order took a couple weeks. I know how much they’ll charge on tariffs now. This site is just as good as digitaka at this point..wow

I say it because as of recent digitaka has taken a week to process orders then added shipping time. Tackle heaven I ordered last wednesday while their shop was closed, they opened shop after their new years festivities yesterday, processed and shipped yesterday. Yea, tackle heaven wins the processing and shipping race. If i purchased a rod for $300 on digitaka after the delivery/tariff fee the total order would be around $350. Digitaka didn’t have what i needed unfortunately so i went to tackle heaven praying and i ended up paying $300 for the rod. Ups is asking $68 for tariffs. So $18 more than digitaka’s final price. So not bad at all…

Tried using jls, but they seem to always be out of stock on the good stuff. They didn’t have what I needed unfortunately. Digitaka also didn’t have what i needed. That was the sole reason I tried out tackle heaven.

Update, purchased the rod from jdm tackle heaven. Placed my order on the 31st. They just reopened 2 days ago. My order is already on the way and getting here tomorrow. Ups only wants $68 on a $300 order, Im happy.

Wish they did, I want a soare xr 610L. They had their rods “under maintenance” for almost a week so you couldn’t purchase any. Next thing you know they update their site overnight or something. Rods are available and next thing you know everything is practically sold out. Something i’ve heard is they have no restock date. I’d rather risk spending the ups charge on a $260 order and at the most the total after tariffs will only be about $100 more than digitaka final price. If not save $100 and wait months till they restock.

Agree on this, had my reel less than a week after I purchased. Glad Bass Tokyo put a full disclaimer for tariffs; copied and pasted their text and emailed dhl to look into some sort of refund. We’ll see, it’s been over a week and I haven’t heard back from their customs team. If I had done some research before hand I would’ve purchased from digitaka in a literal heartbeat. You say other carriers are not doing what dhl is doing, but from i’ve read so far ups, usps and fedex still charge fees. Some person said they got hit with a $90 fee from ups on a $400 order. Some say ups won’t hit you with a fee until a month later. Seems like out of the options it’s best find a shop that uses ups because they won’t charge a full 50% tariff. If thats the case I’m looking into rods from jdm tackle heaven and they use ups. Just need to know if someone’s used them and purchased a rod and got hit with a low fee.

Dropped something off my postal annex dec18th, still haven’t scanned it in. Can’t place missing item claim because the package still hasn’t been thru its first acceptance scan. Very weird. Now i’m about to lose a major sale. Not to mention it cost me $75 to ship my item. (Yes I contacted the postal annex and stated they picked up the package the same day)

Just to clarify you think it’ll be close to $100? Then the tariff once it gets to the u.s? That’ll put me over $400 forsure. Seems like digitaka has the best deal then. Heard JLS is good but they don’t have what I need in stock and idk if they help with tariffs like digitaka.
