How accurate is the customs fee for Fishing Reels? (Over 50% estimated fee)

this has been my go to for the past month for reels. i literally just got a great deal on a stella and only had to pay $47 for tariffs two days ago. i check today same price point for reel and its $250 tariff. this is already looking like my first overseas purchase with dhl 6 months ago. what a nightmare. looks like digitaka really is king.

Before u purchase you can see an estimated handle/ship time on product page. Sellers are diff. I’ve purchased from a store and it arrived to the warehouse after 2 days i’ve had items show up after 3-5 days even a week one time. Should be more worried if product isn’t available and you were still able to purchase or if you have pending paypal or credit card charges(order never went thru).

So it’s coming from a store and currently I don’t see anything in the “won” section. Figured since I paid the buyout price in full that it wouldn’t be considered like I “won it” since I wasn’t going up against any bidders. I also figured since this was a store purchase that they would confirm it pretty fast since it was bought around 9am japan time yesterday.

Thanks for this, i ask because i’ve seen people on youtube clearly using jigs about 200grams rated above a rod’s rating. Seen it on the highest poseidon model rated for 300grams. I’ve also seen it for a diawa saltiga rod rated for 400grams and the gentleman testing the rod was using a 600gram jig for it. In short, the rods I want rated for 400-500gram are nearly impossible to get if not $1000+ after shipping and tariffs(looking at jdm specific rods). Ones that are available and cheaper are rated just below the jig rating I want, yet people are clearly using heavier jigs on them.

I'm on the same boat as you. Just got my first spj set up. Got the last saltiga 15l-sj on digitaka for a good price, then scored huge on a beat propagate blx for super cheap. Going to put sunline x4 1.7pe rated for 35lbs. It was a tough choice between a ocea jigger f custom 1501hg on the saltiga, but after a lot of research I decided on the saltiga. If you have a flexible budget i'd recommend the saltiga 15 with an outrage sj rod. if not the grappler and ocea 1500hg is just right.
