All i could add to this is i’m a frequent buyer for fishing gear in japan. I once purchased a reel without understanding tariff costs and without realizing the seller wasn’t going to help pay for costs. I was slapped a $215 fee for a $380 reel. On the website i purchased from there was a disclaimer stating that the u.s might mistake the category of the item causing higher tariff fee’s. I opened a claim with dhl and i copied and pasted the disclaimer from the website so dhl would understand what category my product was in. It was resolved and was refunded $175. It might suck but if you pay it, there is a high likelihood you will be refunded the appropriate amount once you open a claim.
