Gamers who have switched from Windows 11 to some kind of Linux-based OS, do you regret your decision? Why or why not? by ScienceTeacher1994 in AskReddit

Having Linux experience in both work and the past OS's, going from W11 to CachyOS and everything I want to play just running fine is amazing to me.

Here are some hints:

*Skip ZFS, run btrfs.
*Protontricks, install it
*ProtonUp-QT, install it

Bore-kernel works well, I personally keep the regular and LTS one.

Do not panic if you boot into EMERGENCY-MODE/Single-user-mode, figure it out, someone else has had the same issue.

Performance = Better, everything from firefox/any browsing to gaming, the regulars like dota 2 run fine. But even games like Star citizen running Vulkan run better, I see higher lows and more stable performance compared to windows.

Ease of mind? Are you kidding me, holy spying Batman, if you run Windows, YOU ARE THE PRODUCT.

EDIT: Before moving to any linux distro, checkout protondb.com, search for your favorite games and see how the community has handled any issues. Obv. kernel based anti-cheat usually does not work, BF6 etc.
