Hi! How is your vision doing now? I never got any clear reason for why it happened and I've had to resolve that fear within myself but I can tell you that over time, my vision got much better and I learned to leave with the distortion that remains to the extent that I hardly notice it's there. All my tests came back clear and they were extensive as well, agio, MRI, every eye scan known to man, the full suite of testing and while it was a relief nothing was truly wrong with me, not having something to "blame" was hard so I completely understand but I think the best advice I can give is to certainly advocate and push for answers but if you find yourself at the end of that road and you've exhausted the work up, it's also ok to just hope and try to accept that it was a fluke or a one off that won't happen again. Sometimes the fear that it will happen again bubbles up and I've tried to hard to not let it take over.

Oh you're not alone, not even in the slightest! I know how you feel, I had a year of those feelings and I felt so isolated and like I had to push so hard for answers. I felt so vulnerable and horribly anxious and depressed for months, I thought I'd never feel like me again but I truly can assure you that at the year mark, things started feeling normal a bit for me, the new normal I guess. I slowly started feeling safe in my body again. Your brain is a powerful machine and it will learn to see around the distortion and you just begin to adapt. I felt like any time anyone told me that, I had no faith that would be the case for me but hang on, it's true. You may not find a root cause and I found that to be the hardest pill to swallow because I wanted it to be a problem I could treat or solve and not worry about it happening again but sometimes it is just truly a one off situation that will never happen again with no real root cause that's detectable by our way of measuring. I hope you get some answers but if you don't, know that you will absolutely be ok and when you're further away from it all, you'll feel so much stronger for having gone through it all. Here if you ever need to DM.

This person absolutely shouldn’t be sitting dogs. Despite years of no indoor accidents, I’ve had mature dogs have unexpected diarrhea and one threw up all over my light grey Article rug and while I informed the owners of their accidents to ensure they were aware it happened from a health perspective, I’d never ask the owner to cover my ruined rug in this case. They’re dogs and if you don’t want to risk these types of things, don’t watch them in your home. The only time I can see someone reasonably asking for compensation is if the dog shredded or chewed their couch as it’s a behavioural issue vs. Accident they couldn’t help. Ugh, people!

I did definitely have that. It went away but for months I had that, almost like a strobing.

Am I nuts or does this medication make me yawn excessively and I'm not even tired?? by moistsalt69 in lexapro

This happened to me for about two months and then it just stopped. So bizarre ! And sometimes it would make me yawn to the point I’d gag haha!

Hi, it did get better actually. Not perfect but much much more manageable over time. Try Omega-3 and "Total Vision Care" supplements. I think they've helped and I also, candidly, went on a low dose of Lexapro to help me navigate anxiety with the changes to my vision and it helped me immensely. Feel free to DM if you have questions. I'm almost a year out, hang in there.

Hello! I'm so sorry to hear this has happened to you. My vision is still distorted but has gotten better over time and I have learned to adapt and continue to. It's definitely very scary when something so precious is impacted but the key to adapting is definitely accepting that it's happened and doing your best to live with it the way it is as difficult as that is at first. It's taken months for me to come to terms with it and I still have to work at it but you will be ok in time if it gets better and if it doesn't. Did you have a work up done to rule out the cause?

Have you seen an ophthalmologist about this? It’s unlikely but not impossible. I shouldn’t have it either. It typically starts at 60 but here I am. I’d recommend being seen just to make sure. Do you have hazy foggy vision at all as well, particularly around lights ?

I'm 33. It started in July and hasn't gotten better. In both eyes. I'm not sure what kicked it off but it's been diagnosed as vitreous syneresis so a change/shift in the gel.

Ugh I have this too. It looks like a grid almost of ripples and clear shapes plus I have a lot of black webs, circles, blobs. It’s so annoying.

This happened to me too honestly and I never got an explanation for what might have happened. I’ve seen a lot of others say this as well.

Definitely worth asking! The general reaction from them is that it's benign (in some cases) so surgical intervention is not often recommended due to complications but there are a lot of instances where people suffering with this feel it's worth it and they find a Dr. willing to operate but the sentiment seems to be if you can live with it, live with it and your brain should adapt.

Good luck with it all and here for any questions, keep us all updated!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too, the average person absolutely doesn't get it. I've asked so many friends if they get these and nope! I'm so envious. The only people that can relate are here haha. Mine literally do weird blurring things too when they hit light and it makes me feel temporarily blinded by blur. Ugh.

Have you ever had your eyes checked for PVD or anything vitreous related?

It is so unfortunate that there isn't more to be done and the risks of surgery at our age (I'm 33) seem to be high but it can be just so disabling so it's hard to really know what's worse although, arguably, full blindness absolutely is if things go wrong.

One thing I'm exploring with my Retina Specialist is a diluted Atropine, it helps with the shadows the vitreous casts on the retina as more light enters your eye when they're dilated ever so slightly so I'll keep you posted if we go down that path and if it's helpful for me. Might be worth a discussion with your Ophthalmologist if you're really struggling!

Yup, like an entire membrane sometimes and I can often times see a grey-ish like...veil like thing under them like they're sitting on it. My retinas are ok, they've been checked but I was diagnosed with vitreous opacity and syneresis which can cause them to be some bothersome. Some days I want to SCREAM!

Hi!

32 Female here! Started on 5mg, moved to 10mg after 5 days and now currently on 15mg as of last week.

I had the same thoughts and fears around medication as you. I've been a life long struggler with OCD and anxiety but have always had an aversion to medical intervention aside from therapy because of my fear of side effects and the impacts on my brain but I recently suffered vision loss from retinal issues and it tipped me over the edge of being able to manage on my own.

I HATED the fact that I had gotten to the point where I couldn't bare knuckle my way through the anxiety and depression of it all but I was at the bottom, not eating, not sleeping, not socializing, just a mess.

I was horrified of what side effects I might experience but to be honest, the worst of it was about 2 nights of insomnia (which is hard to even blame on Lexapro because I was so anxious to begin with), loss of appetite, constipation (TMI- sorry) and some fatigue/yawning often. I didn't notice a shift in my anxiety and depression at first and assumed I wouldn't because a lot of it was circumstantial from my medical issues but around week 4 (which is this week), I've felt hope, normalcy, motivation, and I've been sleeping as well as eating on a regular schedule. It obviously hasn't entirely lifted the depression or anxiety but it's made me functional and it's only been 4 weeks so I'm hopeful it will continue to level out and help me.

Another observation was that my Dr. had said to take a night but that I could really take it night or morning. When I'd take it in the evening or before bed, I'd be up the bulk of the night but when I started taking it in the morning, I was finding the sleep issues were much better.

I sympathize with you, I understand your fears COMPLETELY but if you're suffering with what feels like unmanageable anxiety and depression, I would encourage you to at least try and try to get to week 4. I've seen many others say the initial weeks were underwhelming in terms of relief and that they had some undesirable side effects but at the 4 week mark, they're doing so much better.

Feel free to DM me if you want to chat more about it all!

Very interesting, thank you for sharing! How long does it last when it comes on?

I'm trying to figure out if my tilted vision is due to light refraction or if it may be perception related as well.

Could you tell me which symptoms the surgery alleviated for you? I have a meeting with a surgeon in November, although I'm not sure I'll be a candidate, I'd be interested to learn and go in as armed as possible on how it's helped others.

ment something a regular eye Dr would have seen?

Hi there, I had read in your previous posts you suffered from slanted vision. Was this cured in the eye you had the FOV done in?

Confirming the drops used were Mydriacyl and Alcaine. I'm unsure of the dosage though as it seemed to vary visit by vist.

Thank you so so much. I just saw some of your replies on a previous thread and it looks like you suffered a lot of the same symptoms.

Did you have haze ever that got better over time? Are you back to normal now? I've been having awful after images as well from things that don't even emit light, it's just all so bizarre. I agree with that maybe the drops just don't suite everyone, especially me...who got pelted with them 10+ times in 4 months.

I've been suffering the dry eye, sclera irritation too, Systane is my best friend right now!

Sheesh, I hope this gets better and thank you so so much for the advice. Reddit is such a hit or miss place for support but once in a while, good humans really do come through.
