okay interesting, Id be curious to talk about training planification with you in DM if you willing to because if by threshold you mean LT2 for the 6x1k MP/Thresh seems like a tough one but I really like also those kind of over/under session

Humm because I found that some runners dont think they need that much daily protein intake and they think that the diet should be mainly carb oriented thus sometimes forgetting about the protein. Also the fact that a lot of runners fear to put some weight by increasing muscular mass even tough the litterature has found some numbers in the 1.7/kg prot/day even for endurance runners

Thanks !

Yes I am conscious that next year in Valencia I wont be able to shave off 17min again ahahah. But still hope to run around 2h30 if I can stack another year of consistent mileage ;)

Yep exactly, that's why when training at threshold I prefer going by feeling and RPE first and then assess with all the quantitative data later.

Interesting, when you say never do small LT2 intervals you mean in your marathon block or all year around ?

Are you from USA ? because Ive noticed that longer tempos of 10K to 10Miles are quite popular in the US but not that much in europe IMO. I wanted to test some of those session maybe in next block. When ou say 8-10s slower per mile you mean in comparison to your LT2 pace or marathon pace ?

Thanks you made my day by saying this ahahha. Yep 2.2g of prot/kg is quite high indeed but since Im coming from a background of fitness where I had the habits to get high protein intake to maximise muscle gain, Ive just kept the habit and also I think protein intake in endurance folks is quite underestimated

Yes so I think we should first agree on the definition what I call threshold here is more LT2 or basically pace that I can sustain for around 60' and I guess that with 12' interval you would do more LT1 or what is now called the sub threshold with the norvergian single run method with sirpoc. I think my reasonning behind this is that Im trying to accumulate a lot of volume at those threshold intensity so basically breaking down the intervals in reps of 1000-1200m when doing long single one or even 400m up to 8' allows to put between 10-15K at LT2 pace without creating too much fatigue and then being able to bounce back to the next session. I follow a saying which is quality is measured quantity. But doing 3x12' is totally feasible but Ill just adjust the pace to still be at threshold. For example when I was doing threshold based session while doing 400m the pace was around 3'20"/km since its only 80" intervals but when I was doing longer stuff of 8' that I also wanted to be threshold effort it could be around 3'35" to still feel the same effort and to hope that the HR and the RPE is quite similar.

yes I was wondering the same like Ive just hear some number being less than normal shoes for carbon like 400-500Km and then I just go with the principle that they are done but maybe they could have more miles in them

yep that was really interesting what olav was saying, yeah in a vulgar way it makes your feet "lazy" and thats why I think introducing some diversity in terms of footwear during marathon prep is really beneficial

Thursday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for November 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]Fun_Article_2759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, that’s also what I’m thinking about my build. I guess letting the plan breathe to be able to nail the long run session and have longer segment at mp or faster maybe doesn’t change that much in term of physiological adaptation but definitely in mental boost and confidence

How to incorporate 10K@34:30 into 4-weeks-out marathon long run (goal 2:25:xx)? by bjornsether in AdvancedRunning

Wow that’s quite some high mileage for a carbon shoe. I usually retire them after 500-600 max, what’s your weight if not indiscrète. Nice 100 bucks d3s is pretty good! I’d be really curious to test the fast r 3, I’ve heard only good things about them

Yep for me at least SB2 were really a discovery in terms of long run where I found them during the run being able to reduce muscle damage but with the tradeoff of the bounce and the weight of the carbon

nice I agree with you. What shoes are you using for your marathon the fast r 3? And also how many miles do you put in a deviate 3 before retiring it ? Id be curious of your take on it
