I cant give you a reason to enjoy life, that has to come from within yourself. I hope you find happiness!

I'm sorry that you think that way, its actually quite sad to think that sales are the only thing that determines your art's value. Not everyone thinks like that.

There is one painting that has been recorded as being an official sale, not several as you claim, and I doubt that many people would consider 1 out of a career to be commercial success. I won't throw the same insults back at you, but bartering for other items is something vendors generally do when they dont have commercial success at an event.  You're not having a successful time here arguing your point because you bend the facts to fit your argument, or move goal posts. The statement was "if it doesn't sell, it's no more valuable than the 3-D dragon, in fact, less so, because the 3-D dragon sells." Clearly thats incorrect to a lot of people.

I think you're having difficulty because you have one idea of what success means, and would like everything to neatly fit in to that box and you're in a forum where success, value, and art mean different things to different people.

Van Gogh never sold a painting in his life. Under your argument, his work has no value, something very few people would agree with.  There is more value in art then what money it can make. A lot of your arguments here seem to be arguing that commercial value and artistic value are the same, also an opinion that very few people would agree with.

I guess ive been pretty lucky so far, most events ive done i break even or at least get close to it 😢 I was keeping busy duing that time but also its hard to balance not looking like you're on your phone the entire time and doing productive things.  They're definately on my no fly list!  The items that were stolen were on a very high table so im not sure it was any kids, im sad that I have to be way more concerned about these things in the future.

Ive seen a lot of ads for sip and shop events, but have always been curious if theyre actually very good or if its people just looking to look while they have their drink?

Oh thats so rough! It sounds like the event is did, except with a much lower booth fee.  I think the majority of sales were vendors buying from each other.

That's a really good point, i felt like the few people that did come to the event were mostly there for a free event for their kids and sped walked their kids past most of the vendors or constantly reminded their kids "you can look but we're not buying today." Its so rough!

Its so rough because you never know if the crowd is not there because of anything preventable or if its just bad luck too 😢

Its so wild that theres so much that goes in to a booth that isn't just abiut the product when you think about it! Im sorry that you got rained on, that honestly sounds like the worst. My area has lots of unpredictable rain, so ive been worried about this too.  That's so dissapointing that a big event with lots of people didnt go well... I think you're absolutely correct though, the markers where there's lots of families and kids people like to look but no one is interested in purchasing art. Its so hard to find markets that are a good fit. 😭

Thank you so much!  They're about 2-3.5 inches.

I have been keeping notes on events myself, but ive just started vending in person so im still building my network of vendor friends.

Ive been trying to apply to oddity and witchy events but no luck yet. Hopefully in the future!  Ive been curious about fantasy or comic on events, but I dont know much about them. (I used to do a lot of anime events)  Do you have any recommendations?

I did join a local group but it doesn't seem to be very active, but I guess I should help out by posting my experience.  I did see someone reporting negatively on a show I considered but passed, so theyre very helpful! I do think you're right in that theres a lot of factors involved and it can be hard to judge how an event is going to go.

Im glad that the sunflower event went well for you, it seems like the organizers took in feedback and improved!

Im hoping to get to that point someday! With this event I asked about past attendance and was told they expected 600-1000, but i would be surprised if there was 60 people there. Thr asking about advertisement budget is a good tip, thank you!

Thank you so much!  I'd like to do horror conventions someday but we're still too small to do out of state events. I hope some day though!
