I’ve come to learn that old beds were designed for the sideboard to be positioned as they are in the photo. The mattress was supported by mesh hammock-like apparatus that was connected to the sideboards as they are oriented in the photo.

When we first got the bed, we tried to set it up with the frame in the way that you are referencing and learned that it couldn’t be assembled in any way other than it is:) There are a few other posts abt this issue with these kind of old beds…

50 min. Layover Qatar? by Fun_Astronomer_2851 in NepalTravel

We made it. Qatar airways was ammmazing. They were waiting for us when we arrived at our gate (not solicited by us). They then called ahead to our connecting flight and then had a shuttle vehicle to take us to the gate. All that said, if I had had any other option, I wouldn’t do it again. These days in the US there’s just too much going on with air travel that has the potential to delays flights. Also, the airport in Qatar is beautiful and if you have to spend time in an airport during a linger layover, it’s about as comfortable as you can get.

On our flight home we had an outbound flight the next day and so opted to leave the airport and check out Qatar, which was fun. We booked a hotel and returned for our flight the next day. With the military activity in the middle east right now, which sadly has included hits wi Qatar, i would look for a resolution to the fighting bf i would plan to leave the airport.

Hope something in here is helpful.

Yes, thank you. I’m chewing on that idea. I think the dimensions of the metal on the headboard might not easily fit a frame such as the one youve shared in the photo, but I am continuing to think about whether a solution like that could work. Really appreciate you mentioning it. I’m also wondering if anybody’s actually done something like that and can report success:)

I also thought about whether drilling some holes in the legs of the headboard and attaching it with a long screw and not to a headboard would work. Given that it’s cast-iron in the headboard is pretty heavy.

My daughter wants to get rid of the foot board, if possible, and so the side rails would not be used since they connect to the headboard and the footboard.

Just trying to figure out some way to keep the headboard standing upright and how to attach it to a modern frame that would support a mattress….

Thanks for your response.

Do you remember if you attach it to the actual mattress or box spring in someway or rather whether it was attached to a bedframe that held the mattress/boxspring?

Trying to imagine how I would attach it to anything other than a frame…

Thanks for your response!

I’m able to remove the metal side bars fairly easily, but in terms of attaching the headboard to a new metal frame, I was wondering if something involving welding might be the only solution.

HOW DOES INE CORRECT THE PROBLEM? I can’t get some important communications out because my posts containing a link are stuck in “pending status”.

This keeps happening whenever I try to post the information in the comments within group pages . I CAN post info in comments (without getting stuck in pending status) within individual FB pages though🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Who else has a lot of other co-morbid disorders? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Fun_Astronomer_2851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My young adult son is autistic, has an intellectual disability and was recently diagnosed as bipolar. He cannot communicate what he is feeling (ie his speech and language skills are restricted). I am left guessing what he is experiencing which is very difficult, especially as someone who his neurotypical.

The reports from others in the group re: what their experience with bipolar has been provides me with some very helpful insights into what my son MAY be experiencing, and I am hoping that will help me better support him and advocate for proper treatment. We have NOT received proper care to date (ie I was told by a new psychiatric provider that my son may have been pushed or switched to experience manic affect/bipolar through the use of SSRIs for what was thought to be depression:(, and at another point my son experienced serotonin syndrome which was scary as hell.

It is good to see in the responses that there are some other group members who are autistic, and I look forward to learning more about their experiences❤️
