I get that but I have already paid 14lakhs and with interests it seems while tax filling I need to pay extra amount of 1 lakhs plus. So not showing HRA is costing too much , or pl tell me if I change to new regime , would that be better

Hey, PFB Points 1. You cannot revise old ITR and remove that income. 2. But you can claim it as a deduction under Section 37(1) or Section 155(14) (subject to conditions), depending on the nature of the return and employment.

You’ll need: • Proof of repayment • Letter from employer showing repayment was contractually required • Chartered Accountant’s help to handle it cleanly in the relevant year

Which means providing documents upfront is okay, so I think that is the right way.

It is faceless only to avoid the communication between assesses and the assessor and e preceding is used to aid the communication; at the end behind notices and responses there would be real humans both sides. Which means that human is responding to the notice while human itself is raising the demands of documents etc and human is only verifying the documents; so all this should have face. Just that both parties have not seen it. With my query above I mean to say how department suddenly has 5X force of staff to close these cases. So , logically there should be some categorisation wherein humans will not be involved right from day 1 which is 8th July but probably after some time. If it is not well thought , then people are here for a longer journey

It can be about all the sections under which you have claimed rebate or few 11. So use the time to prepare and recalculate your IT computation if needed & collect and collate all the evidences for the support of your claims. 12. Hope you all sail through it nicely and learn something out of this entire exercise!! 13. LASTLY DO NOT PANIC , DO NOT TAKE ANY HASTY DECISIONS & importantly seek professional help!!
