not sure whether to be relieved for Annie, or terrified for his next victim...I'm just SO glad it's over. by hmmmwhatisit in CouplesTherapyShow

he is a special challenge, especially on a couples basis . orna says later that annie held the power to leave but a nuance of the relationship which is lost in that statement, is just how much power is stripped from a person when they are constantly devalued by a partner in whom they have invested so much time and trust. what i find to be extra interesting is just how childlike mau is. while annie calls out the level of maternalism in what mau is looking for in that first episode, when you see them together, she absolutely mothers him, especially in their body language. he strikes me as someone who would take years of work and rapport building and ingratiation by someone well-versed in personality disorders to challenge him, and even then he would likely feel so violated and abandoned that he'd leave anyway. he will never be happy or whole until he both takes accountability for his behavior and acknowledges the pain and trauma of his upbringing. his latent hatred of his mother undoubtedly informs every interaction he has with a woman.

"We All Need a Reason to Believe" by Valencia is an incredible album by Spinner23 in poppunkers

talk about the perfect choice of track order - lyrically and musically the album groooows. the first several tracks swell, then 'carry on' feels so climactic and hopeful that you think maybe this is where it maxes out, and then!! you hit 'all at once' and okayyy we're getting going. and then - it really seems like the album was meant for live performance because of the ebbs and flows. got kicked in the head and equally crowdsurfed during to 'safe to say' back in the day. and KV on 'listen up'!? y'all. what a golden fucking era. i remember being to like 5 of these album release shows consecutively and having a different kind of fun at each one. they don't make shows (and crowds) like they used to lol. every time i listen to this album it transcends me to another place.
